French ski champion Margot Simond has died at the age of 18 after a training accident at Val d'Isere, the French Ski Federation said Thursday.

The Albertville prosecutor opened an investigation into the circumstances of Simond's death after the 2024 French junior slalom champion succumbed to injuries Thursday afternoon, regional daily Le Dauphine Libere reported.

"The ski sports movement has learned of the tragic death of Margot Simond, a young, up-and-coming competitor, which occurred on April 24, 2025 in Val d'Isere," the federation said on social media.
