After a weekend without darts on a TV stage, the PDC returns to the World Series.

The big stars of Europe will be guests down under this week when they play in Wollongong, Australia, on August 8th and 9th.

What is the Australian Darts Masters?

The Australian Darts Masters is the sixth tournament of the World Series of Darts 2025.

Sixteen participants will play for the trophy for only the second time on August 8th, 2025.

What is the World Series of Darts?

The World Series of Darts is a PDC tournament series in which, unlike Pro Tour events, players cannot qualify via the Order of Merit - all tournaments are invitational events and therefore have no influence on the Order of Merit.

The World Series of Darts Finals are held at the end of the seven tournaments.

What format will be used?

The 16 participants play a tournament tree in four rounds against each other. In the first round, one PDC representative meets one Eastern European representative. The first two rounds, i.e., up to and including the quarter-finals, are played in a best-of-11-leg format. In the semi-finals, two more legs are added before a best-of-15 legs is played in the final.

Who takes part?

Players are invited to all World Series of Darts events according to the same logic: the PDC awards eight wildcards directly to its players, while the other eight starting places go to regional participants. These can also be awarded as part of a wildcard or linked to certain qualifications.

At the Australian Darts Masters, the decision was made in favour of a big mix of invitations. Former champion Simon Whitlock gets a wildcard, while Haupai Puha is a Tour Card Holder.

Four other qualifiers will join them via the Australian DPA, while Jonny Tata has secured his place in the New Zealand DPNZ qualifiers. James Bailey is the best player not yet qualified for the DPA Pro Tour Order of Merit.

After his first win at the World Matchplay a fortnight ago, Luke Littler will be the big favourite in Wollongong. Gerwyn Price has also been in excellent form of late. Stephen Bunting has always been capable of top performances at the World Series so far this year.

How does the seeding list work?

The four best players in the World Series Order of Merit are seeded. Players are awarded points based on their performance in World Series events in the current year. Stephen Bunting (41 points) is seeded first, followed by Gerwyn Price (35).

In the absence of Rob Cross, Luke Humphries (21) will be number 3, and Luke Littler (19) will be number 4, replacing Nathan Aspinall.

When will the matches be played?

Friday, August 8th: 1st round - from 10:00 BST

Saturday, August 9th: Quarter-finals to final - From 10:00 BST

What do the players earn?

Every participant in the tournament will receive prize money, regardless of whether the player wins or loses their first-round match. However, as the Australian Darts Masters is an invitational tournament, the prize money is not included in the PDC Order of Merit.
