Dom Taylor has been dumped out of the World Darts Championship after failing a drug test, the PDC announced on Friday, with his round two opponent Jonny Clayton earning a bye into the third round.

Taylor cruised past Oskar Lukasiak 3-0 in sets with an 85.89 average and an impressive 9/19 (47 per cent) on the doubles to set up a potentially mouth-watering tie with Clayton

But the 27-year-old has now been suspended from all events with immediate effect, and the Professional Darts Corporation have released the following statement:

"On December 19th, the DRA was notified of an adverse analytical finding in respect of the player Dom Taylor resulting from a test conducted on December 14th.

"As a result of this and in line with relevant DRA processes, Dom Taylor has been suspended from participating in any DRA-regulated events with immediate effect.

"This matter will now be the subject of a disciplinary process in line with the relevant DRA Anti-Doping Rules.

"The DRA will not be making any further comment pending the outcome of this confidential process."

This comes days after The Tower opened up about another failed drug test, which saw him withdraw from the 2024 Players Championship.

Taylor returned a positive sample of a banned substance last year and was initially handed a two-year suspension that was reduced to three months after proving the substance wasn't performance-enhancing.

Sadly, the Bristol-born arrowsmith hasn’t learned from his lesson and will now have to live with the punishment.
