Luke Humphries takes to the Ally Pally stage again in Round 2 of the PDC World Championship. His opponent is fan favourite Paul Lim, who broke his own record of being the oldest player to ever win a match at the World Championship at 71.

Humphries saw off Ted Evetts 3-1 in the first round, whilst Lim got past Jeffery de Graffb by the same score. Now the two do battle to make it to Round 3 and head into Christmas knowing they’ll be back after the break.

Below, we look at the stats and come up with some smart bets you could make on this great bit of darting action.

Humphries likes a maximum

Luke Humphries is one of the premier 180 hitters in the world. He is the ninth best in the past 12 months for finding maximums and hit eight in his first round match against Evetts. Lim hit two in his match against De Graff and has only hit more than two 180s in one of his last eight matches. Humphries has hit three or more 180s in his last seven matches. With odds of 4/9, I think this is a good bet to back for Humprhies to hit more 180s in this match than Lim.

Tip: Humphries most 180s in match - 4/6 @ bet365

Bet Explanation: This bet wins if Luke Humphries hits more 180s than Paul Lim.

Humphries is great at big checkouts

Humphries can always rely on hitting a high checkout to win a leg of darts. Humphries nailed a 138 in the second leg of the second set against Evetts to maintain his throw. He didn’t even need to with Evetts not on a finish, but the class of the World No. 2 shone through to take it out. In fact, Humphries is reliable at getting 100+ checkout in all his recent matches, having hit at least one in his last seven matches. I back Humprhies to get another one against Lim.

Tip: Humphries 1+ 100+ Checkouts - 2/7 @ bet365

Bet Explanation: This bet wins if Luke Humphries gets one or more 100+ finishes in the match.

Humphries will have a higher checkout than Lim

In his last seven matches, Humphries' highest checkouts have been 138, 145, 112, 142, 128, 105, 129 and 144. Compare this to Lim, who has hit only three ton-plus finishes in the same number of games, and you see that Humphries is more reliable. The three he hit were a 100, 120 and 126, only higher than two of Humphries' finishes. I can see Humphries hitting another higher checkout than Lim can muster in this game.

Tip: Humphries Highest Checkout - 1/7 @ bet365

Bet Explanation: Luke Humphries needs to get a higher checkout than Paul Lim in the match for this to win.
