The player of the afternoon was Connor Scutt who threw over 95 average.

Lee Evans (92) 3-0 Sandro Eric Sosing
The session started with few triples but eventually, Sosing grabbed his own leg by finishing on double 16.
Evans seemed shaken up as he took control in the second and third leg. With a maximum score, he finally went to tops and he threw it in one.
Also in the third leg, which saw the first break, the double went out in one go. Double 16 was no task for the Englishman either. He seemed to win the fourth leg easily by having six darts for 120, but the first misses followed.
Sosing finally had a chance to break back on 50, but missed the double 16 twice. Evans threw out double 8 to take the first set right off Sosing.
In the first leg of the second set, Evans pushed right through with a 140 score and took control. He didn't relinquish that either, hitting tops to make it 1-0.
In the second leg, 68 also went out with single 12 single 20 and double 18. He hit 5 out of 10 dimes, and the excitement continued in the third leg. With 20 left, Evans threw out 20 while Sosing was still on 160. He threw out double 10 to win the second set 3-0.
Evans sinks but does not fail
In the third set, Sosing had 32 left, whereas Evans was still on 130.
With the second dart in hand, the double 16 was hit and he took another leg since the opening leg. In the second leg, Evans had 24 left, threw a single 12 and then 10 instead of double 6.
He was able to throw double 1 but decided to throw himself dead while Sosing was on 123.
Not entirely neat, but Sosing indeed did not throw out, after which Evans won the leg and moved to 1-1 in set 3.
Sosing had a good chance to lead 2-1 with 50 over, but missed double 16 and 8.
Evans failed to throw out 110 as he missed double 16. Sosing then did throw double 8 and was 2-1 ahead.
In the fourth leg, Sosing was nowhere to be seen, throwing three innings under 60, which Evans threw out to make it 2-2. Evans almost ended the match with a ton-plus finish. Only double 14 was missed on 148.
He was allowed to come back for double 14. That went on the inside, but double 7 was thrown. With an average of over 85, he took the match 3-0.

Connor Scutt (71) 3-0 Krysztof Kciuk (90)
Kciuk started with four perfect darts into the triple 20 in Scutt's leg. Yet it did not lead to a break as he failed to stay inside the boxes on 78 and did not get an arrow a double.
Scutt threw out 62 with one arrow on tops to lead 1-0. He then pushed on with a great finish in the second leg. Triple 19 was found twice and double 12 also went on to hit for a 138 finish and a break in the set: 2-0.
He threw his first 180 of the match in the third leg. This allowed him to quickly get to a finish and he finally threw 64 with tops. Thus, he hit all the doubles and took the first set.
Scutt breaks with a strong finish
In Kciuk's set, Scutt had a chance to break from 111. Triple 19 and single 14 went in, but he did not throw tops.
Kciuk had 10 left and threw two double 4s to take the lead in his set. Scutt missed those same tops in leg two to throw out 66 and so Kciuk had a chance to break from 53, but he missed two doubles.
Scutt took advantage and threw the 1-1 on the board via double 10. Scutt threw his second maximum score in the third leg and followed with 140, 81 remained and in three arrows out via tops.
This created a break and allowed The Sniper to move towards a set win. Scutt again threw 180 but did not yet take the set. Kciuk had 121 left and threw that out via bullseye to make it 2-2. Scutt had 88 left and Kciuk 100. The Englishman went first and threw out via double 7 to make it 2-0.
Scutt threw his third maximum score in the first leg of the third set and eventually reached 32. With his second dart in hand, he threw out double 16 and led 1-0.
The Englishman also threw 180 in the second leg. He had a chance for the break via 65, but missed tops. Kciuk also had to throw that one, but hit single 5.
This gave him one arrow on double 16, but he missed.
Scutt hit tops to take the break 2-0. Scutt had one match dart on the bullseye from 122 but missed. Kciuk broke back by hitting 27 to make it 2-1.
The Pole had one chance on 76 to stay in the match but missed double 18. Scutt did not do so from 65 and so he won the set 3-1 and the match 3-0.
With a generous average of 95, he played a good match and faces Gerwyn Price in the next round.

Jules van Dongen (80) 1-3 Darren Penhall
Penhall and Van Dongen both started the match strongly. The Australian debutant was first to dock for the finish with 60 left and threw that neatly in two arrows.
Van Dongen missed three arrows in his leg to finish 20, so Penhall had a chance with 75 over but did not take it. Van Dongen threw out double 5 to make it 1-1.
Penhall was not in trouble in leg three and threw out a double 10 for the 2-1.
The first 100-plus finish came the following leg and Van Dongen needed just two arrows for 100 to make it 2-2. Penhall threw the first 180 of the match and left 116. That went out via tops and so he took the set.
Van Dongen started the next set well with a maximum score and he also threw out 123 to make it 1-0. Penhall also threw 180 in his leg and tossed out 67 to equalise. Another 180 came in the third leg for Van Dongen.
He reached 2-1 via double 16 and took the set in the fourth leg by throwing out double 5 making 1-1 in sets.
Van Dongen sloppy on the double
Penhall opened the third set with a ton-plus finish, 108 went out via single 20, triple 20 and double 14.
Penhall continued to finish well as he threw out 120 in the second leg to put Van Dongen in trouble in set three.
From 69, Van Dongen had a chance to break back but missed double 16. Penhall had 118 standing, but missed tops to throw his third ton-plus finish in the set.
Van Dongen failed to throw out a double 8 and so Penhall took it after all.
In set 4, Van Dongen had 124 left but missed the bullseye. Penhall had 93 left and threw that out via triple 18 and double 10 and grabbed the break. He then picked up in the second leg and threw out 36 for the 2-0. Penhall hit 50 per cent of the doubles.
Van Dongen had to come but missed another double. Penhall failed to throw out 152, allowing Van Dongen to throw out again. He succeeded via double 8 and so Van Dongen needed a break. Penhall, however, threw 180 twice, leaving 81. Penhall threw that out and won the match 3-1.

Dave Chisnall (11) 3-1 Cameron Menzies (63)
Menzies opened well with high scores but missed many darts on the double. Chisnall had 118 left but failed to get a chance to throw out. Menzies threw 5 out via double 2 to lead 1-0.
Menzies then threw 180 and soon reached 47. He only missed two doubles again and allowed Chisnall to get closer. He missed 158 alone, but Menzies missed three darts again. He was allowed to come back again, this time for double 1, but missed again.
Chisnall also failed to throw out 64 and this time Menzies did throw out and so came the first break.
Menzies opened with 180, scoring strongly for the opening set. Chisnall was not a killer on the double either, as 52 failed to go out. Menzies threw out tops to lead 1-0 in sets.
Chisnall stepped it up in the second set. With a maximum score, he was finally able to eject via double 7.
The Englishman also scored strongly in the second leg and went out 68 to take the break: 2-0. Menzies was not deterred and grabbed the break back, taking out 76, making it 2-1.
Chisnall got two set arrows on tops but missed. Menzies faced 8 and threw out a double 4.
The leg went to a decisive fifth leg, in which both men threw poorly. Chisnall had 102 left, Menzies 106. Chisnall had no chance for a double, but neither did Menzies. On 56 Chisnall finally threw it out in two arrows: 1-1.
In the third set, Chizzy really gave it some gas. With a break and an eleven-darter, he quickly led 2-0. In the third set he failed to throw out 87, but Menzies messed up his 16, allowing Chisnall to come back.
Double 4 made it 3-0 in the third set and the number 11 of the world started the fourth. He threw 102 average in set 3 against Menzies' 80.
Exciting fourth set
Chisnall did not yield in the first leg and so Menzies broke via double 12.
The Scot had three darts for tops to make it 2-0 but missed everything. Chisnall did throw out 60 and took the rebreak.
Menzies took the rebreak and threw out 102 to stay in the set. In the fourth leg, they both threw 18 and Menzies got two set arrows.
He missed and Chisnall was waiting at 20. He missed them all but Menzies also missed three darts.
Chisnall did throw out 10 to make it 2-2 and got to start himself.
Chisnall eventually had two match darts on 100 but missed. Menzies had 190 left and so Chisnall was allowed to come back and, via double 5, won the match.
