PDC World Championship day 14 highlights: Littler beats Aspinall to reach semis

22:35 GMT - That means our last four is set: we'll have Chris Dobey taking on three-time winner Michael van Gerwen, while Luke Littler faces Stephen Bunting in the later game. Join us again tomorrow for the semi-finals! OI OI OI!

22:28 GMT - A great effort from both there but Littler's 101.54 average and three ton-plus finishes were just too much for a very game Nathan Aspinall.

"I think we both played very well there," Littler told Sky Sports.

"I'm so glad to win. 

"The crowd were chanting for Nathan, they wanted the comeback, but I had to finish it.

"The Ryan Meikle game was very tough but ever since it has felt like last year. I'm just playing with absolute confidence."

22:27 GMT - Littler has three goes to take out 16 in the first leg of the seventh set. He kicks off with a 180 in the next as he looks to break Aspinall again. The Asp hits a 180 to leave 84, but he doesn't get a chance at the double. 

Littler looks at 101, which he takes out via tops in three darts. He's within a leg of the semis again, and it's another 12-dart leg.

Littler can't get the big fish started but leaves tops. He hits it in one to set up a semi-final clash with Stephen Bunting!

22:22 GMT - Aspinall's got the throw in the leg and set. The Nuke opens with a maximum. The Asp leaves 72 for a crucial hold, but he misses tops. He gets another go with three darts and pins double 5 to take the first leg.

Littler with darts opens with another 180. He bulldozed his way through the leg, leaving 121 after nine. He wraps up tops for a 13-dart leg: 1-1.

Aspinall misses two at double 16, Littler takes out 90 with the bullseye which he finally finds to put him a leg away from the match.

Littler just has to hold and he's in the semis. He has 156 but misses the second treble. Aspinall looks for 62 and hits double 16 to break Littler and make it 2-2. Aspinall looks for 70 for the set,m which he takes out. It's now 4-2 to Littler, who will have the darts in the next.

22:08  GMT - Littler's averaging over 101 going into the fifth set, while Aspinall is just shy of 96. The Nuke is 44 per cent on the doubles, higher than his opponent at this stage.

Littler opens the set with the darts and mops up the first leg comfortably. He hits his ninth 180 in the next, while Aspinall responds with one of his own. Littler rounds out a 101 finish in 12 darts to make it 2-0 in rapid time.

Aspinall takes the 18th 180 of the match to start the third leg. Littler sinks another to leave 87 for the set on his throw. He misses the bull, leaving Aspinall to take out 130 - which he can't. Littler stuffs up his double 10 and double 5 attempts. The Asp misses two at double 16, and Littler ends up in the madhouse. Aspinall does take the 32 to make it 2-1 and a break of throw.

More 180s start flowing for both. Littler takes out double 12 for the set and he's now one away from the semi-finals.

21:56 GMT - Aspinall has the darts but Littler gets a look at 25, which he misses. The Asp needs 32 but can't hit his doubles, while Littler bodges double 1. Aspinall finally pins double 4 to hold throw.

Littler replies with a sixth maximum. Aspinall replies with his fifth. Littler hits another, six perfect darts. He misses the treble 20 but leaves 141 after nine. He takes out double 12 to go 1-1 in legs in the set.

The 180s keep coming; we're up to 13 now as Asp hits another. He gets three goes at double 10, which he takes out to make it 2-1.

Littler has the throw in the fourth leg. He leaves 78 but misses the bull again. Asp can't take out 83. Littler takes out double 10 to make it 2-2.

Aspinall starts the deciding leg. Littler hits another max to leave 82 for the break and set. He pulls it off for an 11-dart leg. It's 3-1 to Littler in sets.

21:46 GMT - Aspinall takes the set! It's now 2-1 to Littler.

21:38 GMT - It's the start to the third set he would have wanted - and needed - as Aspinall takes the first leg.

But, once more, Littler quickly fires back to level things up: 1-1 in legs.

'The Nuke' now leads 2-1 in legs, but don't let the score fool you - we are seeing some high-quality competition here as Aspinall is hitting an impressive three-dart average of 119.21 in the third set so far.

And that quality does pay off as 'The Asp' takes the second leg to level things up: 2-2 in legs. Tasty.

21:31 GMT - With a three-dart average of 106.29, Littler takes the second set and now leads Aspinall 2-0.

Having dropped just the one leg so far tonight, 'The Nuke' now has the darts ahead of the third set.

21:23 GMT - 'The Asp' has the darts for the second set as he looks to find an immediate response to Littler.

And with a three-dart average of 84.15, Aspinall takes the first leg of the second set.

But Littler then fires back and takes the next two legs to put himself in a winning position: 2-1 in legs.

21:17 GMT - Littler has the darts to start and rapidly races to a 2-0 lead in legs.

'The Nuke' then takes the third leg to claim a very quick 1-0 lead in sets over Aspinall in just over four minutes, with a stunning three-dart average of 118.66.

20:55 GMT - A 95.55 average for Stephen Bunting and three ton-plus finishes. A good day at the office for him.

It's time for Luke Littler against Nathan Aspinall! Which one will face Bunting in tomorrow's semi-final?

20:51 GMT - Bunting with the darts in the seventh set. With 104 to break, Wright can't quite takes it out. Bunting returns for 18 and takes it out in three to take the first leg of the set.

Against the throw, Bunting races to 90 after 12 darts. Bullseye and tops goes out in two darts, leaving Bunting one leg hold away from the semi-finals. 

Bunting hammers home his advantage in the third leg, leaving 40 on the board with Wright unable to take out 150. Bunting misses three match darts. Wright comes back for 57 and misses two at tops. Bunting sinks the double 10 to take his place in the semis.

20:42 GMT - Wright is averaging 92.73 and Bunting 96.99 prior to the sixth set, with both hitting just two 180s a piece. Both are around 50 per cent on the doubles.

Wright has the darts in the first leg, but Bunting has an attempt at the double first. He misses, allowing Wright a chance at 16 - but he bodges it. Bunting has 24 left, which he duly dispatches to break immediately.

Bunting has the darts and is two legs away from the semi-finals. Bunting has his own issues at the doubles and lets Wright in to break straight back: 1-1. Bunting takes a look at 160 but misses the second treble. Wright has 58 and takes it out via tops to record back-to-back legs.

Wright lands the fifth 180 of the match in the fourth leg, and finishes off a 133 with a double double 19 to make it 4-2 in sets.

20:27 GMT - Bunting is 4-0 up in sets and has the darts to secure his spot in the semi-finals. Wright leaves tops and finally takes out double 10 to break Bunting early.

Bunting starts off the next leg with a 180. Wright gets to 64 which goes out via double 8. It's 2-0 in legs for Wright.

Snakebite fires out a big 180 to start the third leg. but can't take out 161. He comes back with 64 left and knocks off double 16 to win his first set: it's now 4-1.

20:14 GMT - Wright has the darts first in the fourth set. He makes a mess of his finish though, letting Bunting take out a 68 to break.

With the darts, the Liverpool man again utilises the double 16 to take it to 2-0 in legs. Bunting is averaging around 97 for the match currently, Wright around 91. 

Wright could use a max here but can't really find any trebles. Bunting leaves himself 95 which he doesn't;t take out. Wright has a big fish but misses the second treble. Bunting takes the fourth set via double 5.

20:07 GMT - Bunting has the darts at the start of the third set. Wright hits his first max of the match. Bunting can't take out 72, giving wright a chance at 70, but he misses tops. Bunting comes back but he busts. Wright takes out double 10 to break the throw and make it 1-0 in the set.

Bunting sticks in a tremendous 143 checkout despite looking dead and buried to break straight back: 1-1.

Wright marginally misses the double on 116 against the darts. Bunting gets one dart at tops and takes it to hold and make it 2-1.

Against the darts Bunting then races to 126, which he fancies given his ton-plus finishing tonight. He misses the treble, so Wright comes back for 79. Top goes to make it 2-2. Bunting has the darts in the deciding leg.

Bunting takes a look at 146 but misses the double, but gets three in hand for the set. He takes out doubles 16 in one attempt to lead the match 3-0.

19:49 GMT - Wright holds Bunting off in the first leg of the second set with a fine double 13 finish. Bunting takes out double 16 to hold his own and make it 1-1.

Bunting takes out a huge 130 via the bullseye to break Wrtight, giving him the darts in hand to extend his lead in sets.

Wright looks a little shell-shocked and he's not finding his targets. Bunting stands up for 48 but misses the double 16. Wright can't take out 155, so Bunting slips in with three set darts to make it 2-0.

19:34 GMT - Bunting takes the opening set with the darts. Wright rallies back but opts not to go for bull on 130.He takes out double 16 to make it 1-1. 

Bunting lands the first 180 in the third leg, and the Englishman gets the first look at a finish via 139, but it doesn't go. Wright can't take out 156. Bunting takes 60 out in two darts to lead 2-1. All with the throw so far.

A couple of trebleless visits hurts Wright in the fourth set, letting Bunting in with 28 for a first break and first set. Double 14 goes out in one to make it 1-0 to Bunting.

19:20 GMT - It's generally the Scotsman who gets the better of the Liverpudlian, with Wright winning the previous two meetings, but Bunting has had his fair share of victories as well, particularly in the three matches before those.

The winner will face either Luke Littler or Nathan Aspinall in the semis.

18:49 GMT - Two more games to complete our semi-final line-up tonight.

First we'll have world number eight Stephen Bunting against number 17 Peter Wright before Luke Littler goes head-to-head with Nathan Aspinall.

Michael van Gerwen will be eyeing both up if he can get through Chris Dobey tomorrow.

16:09 GMT - Both are still averaging over a ton and Rydz has the darts first. He sets up 64, which he takes out in deadly fashion. He's up to 47 per cent on the doubles today.

Van Gerwen with the darts now. He pins 180 number 27 before taking out tops to make it 1-1. He hits another soon after to leave 130, but not this time. Rydz takes his one shot at tops to make it 2-1.

MVG throwing to stay in the set, both pin a 180. Rydz gets a look at 137 but can't get it going. MVG takes 54 out to make it 2-2. He's a break away from the match.

The world number three throws the 31st 180 of the match. Rydz misses 96 for the set, MVG needs 48 for the match and pins his second set. Van Gerwen wins this thriller 5-3.

15:55 GMT - Van Gerwen starts with another 180. And another to set up the nine. He misses the seventh. He blitzes to a finish to take the first leg on double 16. He's purring now.

Both come out with a 180. Rydz misses the next, MVG does the same. Rydz needs to hold here but misses the double 9. He comes back and takes double 4 to make it 1-1, stopping his opponent's four-leg run.

Rydz hits the 23rd and his 14th 180 of the match. He gets a go at tops to break back, which he takes: 2-2.

Rydz now has the darts for the set, and he opens with a 180. MVG bangs in his own. Rydz hits another. Top drawer stuff. Rydz takes out double double on tops to check out on 99 and take the set! It's 4-3 to MVG now.

15:49 GMT - Rydz throws first in the sixth set and breezes to the first leg. He finds another 180 in the next. Van gerwen takes out 52 to hold and make it 1-1.

MVG hits a sixth 180. He leaves 44 in two darts to break and make it 2-1. He's throwing for the set now.

Rydz responds with a 180. The scoring is rocketing up. MVG gets a go at 170 but misses, leaving 36 which goes out. It's 4-2 in sets.

15:38 GMT - MVG starts with four perfect darts in the set. Rydz responds with a ninth 180. Van Gerwen takes out tops to claim the first leg.

Rydz goes double, double on 18 to make it 1-1 in legs. MVG then steps up with a 180. Then another! He misses the treble 19, but that's seven perfect darts from the Dutchman. He takes out 52 to make it 2-1.

Rydz comes back with a 180. That's the 800th of the tournament, and he just misses another. More great visits leave him on 32, which he wraps up for an 11-darter. MVG now has to hold for the set.

Both are averaging around 110 in this set, tremendous stuff at Ally Pally.

MVG leaves 130 for the set but misses a set dart at double 5. Rydz steps up for 80 but misses tops. Van Gerwen has three goes at 10, which goes out via double 1: it's 3-2 to Van Gerwen.

15:25 GMT - Van Gerwen is averaging 98.77 while Rydz is on 99.43. It's Rydz with the darts and he holds in the first leg.

Van Gerwen replies with a two-dart finish on 72 to level it at 1-1. No breaks in this one just yet. A smart tops finish claims another hold of throw for Rydz to make it 2-1.

Rydz leaves 136 for the set and leaves himself with tops. MVG needs 112 but narrowly misses the double 16. Three set darts at tops but Rydz takes it out in one. It's 2-2 in sets. Great match this.

15:18 GMT - Van Gerwen with the throw. Rydz sticks his sixth and seventh 180, and Van Gerwen just has the one. Rydz takes the lead with an excellent 111 finish.

Rydz leaves 72 but misses tops. MVG eventually takes out the double to break the throw and make it 1-1.

Rydz has 76 but misses bull, MVG misses three darts at the doubles. Rydz steps up for 25 but misses double 4. Van Gerwen takes double 5 to make it 2-1. Missed opportunity for the Englishman.

Rydz has the darts and needs to hold. He lays up 133, but he can't take it out. Van Gerwen missed his checkout. Rydz puns double 8 to make it two-all.

A big 180 for Van Gerwen to reach a finish first. He leaves 68 which goes out via treble 20, double 4 to take the third set.

15:04 GMT - Both players averaged over 100 in that first set. High-quality stuff.

Rydz takes out a massive 135 to hold the first, and starts the second leg with a 180. Five perfect darts.

He hits another 12 darter to make it 2-0 and to break. MVG needs to break back to stay in the leg. He takes double 4 to whitewash MVG in the second set. It's 1-1.

Lightning fast stuff in this one.

14:54 GMT - Van Gerwen has the darts in the first leg and set, but Rydz hits the first 180 of the match. Van Gerwen narrowly misses 104, allowing Rydz in at 78 for a break, which he hits. It's 1-0 to the Englishman.

Rydz then leaves 72 to hold but misses, and MVG takes out a stunning 154 checkout to break back. What a finish.

A second 180 for Rydz in the third leg to leave 126, but he misses the double 6. MVG misses two at the double himself, leaving Rydz to break again: 2-1.

Rydz is throwing for the first set now. He narrowly misses a 115 checkout, and MVG pins tops to make it four breaks and 2-2.

The Dutchman has the darts in the deciding leg. Rydz hits another well-time 180, and Van Gerwen roars back with his first of the day. He leaves 130 for the set but misses the set dart at double 5. Rydz misses one at 113. Van Gerwen comes back for double 5 to win the first set.

14:40 GMT - Three-time champion Van Gerwen cruised past Jeffrey de Graaf 4-2 in the third round with a decent 101.98 average, hitting 21 180s and finishing 44 per cent on the doubles.

He boasts an impressive six ton-plus checkouts for the tournament - two ahead of his nearest rivals.

Rydz is averaging 99.43 for the tournament, one behind Littler for the overall lead. He'll need to maintain his aggressive style and limit mistakes - and perhaps hope an improving Van Gerwen has a wobble at the oche.

14:32 GMT - A 95.38 average, 40.82 per cent on the doubles and 12 180s for Chris Dobey as he reaches his first ever World Championship semi-final. Great performance - he'll also be knocking on the door of the top 10 in the rankings too.

He'll face either Michael van Gerwen or Callan Rydz in the next round, and they're up at the oche next.

14:28 GMT - Lazarus Price has the darts now in this set and hits a 180 - that's 17 in the match now.

Dobey is averaging around 96, Price 93. Dobey just misses a 164 checkout. Price leaves 26 but misses three darts. Dobey takes out 42 to break Price's throw. 

Dobey hits another 180 and leaves 86 to hold, but narrowly misses double 16. He comes back to take the leg and make it 2-0, he's one away again.

Price has the darts but has been woeful in this set. No room for error now. He has a go at a finish first but it's a tricky 148, he can't get it going. He takes out 75 to make it 2-1.

Dobey with the darts for the match now. He throws a slightly random double 19. Dobey leaves the door open twice but Price can't find any trebles to capitalise. Dobey leaves 92 for the match, with Price waiting on 40. Dobey goes double double on 18 to win the match 5-3!

14:14 GMT - Dobey throws first in what could be the deciding set. He sinks a 12-dart leg to make it 1-0.

Price misses another three at double 12 to make it 37 misses. He then misses double 6 before finally taking out double three to hold the leg. He starts fighting with the crowd. Now's the time for him if it's ever going to happen.

Dobey leaves tops to hold his throw and takes it out first time to move one leg away from the match.

The Englishman leaves 130 but can't find the treble. Price needs 95 to stay alive which he pins via double 10 to make it 2-2 in legs. The Iceman is fired up!

It's a huge leg now; Dobey with the darts, and he comes out with a 180. He's in control and gets to a finish first, leaving 20. He has three goes at it but misses. Price has no finish, though. Dobey needs 4 for the match but misses all three! Price steps up for 50 - somehow! He finds tops and survives to make it 4-3 in sets. Unbelievable stuff.

14:03 GMT - Price begins with the darts but he still looks sketchy on the doubles, missing five at double 9. 

Dobey misses a big chance to break, Price misses another three at the double 9. Dobey finally takes out 8 to record a huge break in the first leg. Price has missed 33 darts at the double at this stage.

Price immediately fluffs his lines at 170 and the crowd are starting to dig at him as Dobey holds in the second. He moves a break away from a two-set lead.

Dobey hits a 180, Price misses another double to save the set. Dobey takes out double 15 to win four sets on the spin.

13:51 GMT - Price starts the set in fine fashion and looks good for the break but misses his outshot, again struggling on the doubles. He gets another go, though, but needs to take out a tricky 5, but he takes out the double 1 in one shot. It's a big break of throw from Price.

Dobey leaves 120 for a breakback but can't get it started. Price steps up for 35 but misses the doubles again. Dobey hits double 10 to break back for 1-1. Dobey hits the first 180 of the set in the third leg but Price hits a tidy 171 and ton finish to break again. He now throws for the set.

Every leg has gone against the darts so far in the set. Suddenly Price is wobbling again. Dobey leaves a big fish and finds the trebles but just misses the bull. Price can't hit his own 170 finish so Dobey gets a chance at 25, which goes out via double 8. Another break and it's 2-2.

Dobey now has the chance to push the advantage in this match. Price can't keep up with the pace, and Dobey takes out double 5 to win the set. Dobey comes from 2-0 down to lead 3-2.

13:36 GMT - Dobey leaves the big fish but misses his second treble. Price needs 112 to hold throw but fails. Dobey needs 30 to back-to-back breaks, but he makes a hash of it. Big chance missed there. Price returns for double 10, and he's giving it large to the crowd after that.

Price is still averaging around 100, but Dobey is up to 99 now. He's growing into this tie. Both miss bullseye attempts, and Dobey can't take out 25. Price can't punish him on 41. Dobey returns to miraculously hold: 1-1 in legs. 

Price cruises to the next leg to make it 2-1. Dobey is back with the darts but Price knows he can throw for the match.

Dobey hits the bull to take out 86 to stay alive in the set at 2-2. Price has a chance for the set but blows it on 88, giving Dobey a chance at tops for a stunning break, which he hits! It's 2-2 in sets.

13:24 GMT - Dobey holds the first leg of the third set without too much trouble. He sticks another max in the next. Price calmly takes out 40 in three visits to level things at 1-1. Dobey then similarly holds in the third to make it 2-1.

Price comes out with four perfect darts and hits the 11th 180 of the match in his next visit. He misses 85 though, giving Dobey a chance at 107, which he takes out to take the set and an important hold. It's 2-1 to Price.

13:13 GMT - Price hits the sixth 180 of this first-to-five sets match and eventually takes out tops to make it three legs on the spin and 1-0 in the second set.

He begins the second leg with another. Dobey is struggling to contain the Iceman right now and may struggle to hold his throw. Dobey can't take out 160, but Price fails to capitalise on 52. Dobey eventually takes out 24 after a howler of a visit from Price. It's 1-1.

Price suddenly looks a bit skewiff on the doubles and has missed seven in a row now. Still, he holds the next leg to make it 2-1.

Price is averaging around a ton at the moment to Dobey's 92 with change.

Dobey needs to hold to stay in the set now. Price has him under pressure. The Welshman misses the bull for 130, and Dobey can't take out 110. Two darts for the set, Price knocks out 38 to make it 2-0.

13:00 GMT - Dobey has the darts and kicks off the new year with a 180 straight out of the traps. He ends up on 80, which he takes out without any issues before racing to the first leg.

Price responds with a 12-darter to finish on 128 to make it 1-1. Dobey looks to hold again and hits a 180 en route to leaving 109, but he can't do it. He comes back to take out 25 and make it 2-1 in the first set. The Englishman looks good on the doubles this afternoon.

Price bags his first 180, and Dobey responds with the fourth of the match already. The Iceman then takes the fourth set via tops. 

Dobey with the darts for the set, Price sneaks in a 180 but fails to maintain the nine opportunities. He looks good for the break for the set though and eventually pins double 16 to go 1-0 up in sets.

12:50 GMT - 'Hollywood' Chris Dobey defeated Kevin Doets 4-3 with a thrilling 98.73 average and five 180s in the previous round.

He'll need to maintain his scoring power and limit mistakes against the experienced Price, who has comfortably won the previous 12 encounters between the pair.

The 'Iceman' defeated compatriot Jonny Clayton 4-2 with a 99.17 average in the last 16 and overcame a stiff challenge from world number 23 Joe Cullen prior.

He's averaging 92.29 for the tournament, just shy of Dobey's 94.39.

12:43 GMT - Good afternoon and welcome back to our Darts Tracker, where we'll be bringing you live updates for all four of the PDC World Championship quarter-finals this afternoon and this evening!

Getting us started in just over five minutes is Chris Dobey v Gerwyn Price.

Later on we will see Michael van Gerwen face Callan Rydz, Stephen Bunting clash with Peter Wright and tournament favourite Luke Littler go head-to-head with Nathan Aspinall.
