23:05 GMT - It's got to be won by two clear legs with everything all square in the fifth.
Stunning stuff by both, Doets bags his seventh 180. He eventually breaks straight back, he's throwing for the match again! Doets doesn't need the Big Fish and sets up 112 with Smith not on a finish. The Dutchman misses out on the treble, and Smith nails double 8 to break again and make it 3-3.
Smith makes another perfect start to the leg. He leaves 94 and hits D19 twice to take the set to 4-3 in legs. He needs to break now.
Both are averaging over 100 here. Smith punishes a bounced dart with a 180 and 140, but Doets takes out 54: 4-4!
Doets hits the bullseye to make it 5-4 with a huge break, then takes his ninth max to start the next leg. Doets messes up his finish but gets a second chance with 40 to go, he takes it with the third match dart to knock out the former world champion!

Doets has taken the first leg! He throws six perfect darts, but despite missing a nine-darter, hits tops to lead. Smith is in huge trouble here! (0-1)
Huge pressure on Smith to hit the 110 but misses on the D16! The Dutchman hits D7 and doubles his lead! Are we looking at a huge shock? Smith needs to win the next three legs to stay in the world championship (0-2)
Smith stays alive – hits a D9 to win the third leg. He needs to win the next two or he’s out (1-2)
Doets hits a 180 with his first three darts. This is tense. He needs 72 but misses the match dart on D20. Smith needs to finish on 84 and roars in delight as he hits a D11 to level at 2-2 and we go to a decider.

22:34 GMT - Doets wins the second set over Smith to level the game at 1-1
Doets scores his third 180 of the game and leaves 82. Can he score a double this time? He does! It may be his 12th attempt but he punches the D20 to win his first leg of the match (0-1)
Smith requires 40 but misses three darts on the D20! Doets needs 76 but again misses the D20! Smith misses the D20 for the sixth time! Doets hits the D10 with his third dart to double his lead. Remarkable misses there (0-2)

The pressure is on Buntz in the first leg of the third set. Both are on 161 as Buntz throws 70. Kenny clears with a 16 and D16 to take the first leg. (1-0).
Kenny hits a 180 and is totally on top, but wait! Buntz then throws a 180. Can this be a great comeback? Bunts needs to take 103 but fails with the T20 and it’s on Kenny to clear from 80. He misses D10 but hits the D5. (2-0)
Buntz has 141 – it’s now or never, surely, but 109 leaves 32. Can he take the D16? He takes it on the third dart! (2-1)
It's Kenny to throw for the match. Can he finish in style? He has 170 left. He hits the T20.. hits the T20.. but can he hit the bull? Yes! What a brilliant finish! Kenny takes the third leg and with it, the third set and the match (3-1).
He averaged 87.66 and will face five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld in the next round.
19:50 GMT - It's 2-0 to Kenny!
It's another 180 for Kenny who goes on to take the first leg. The Welshman takes the remaining 64 with ease, hitting the D16 on his first attempt. (1-0)
Buntz has the chance to clear 170 to win his first leg but only hits 46. Kenny also has 170 and hits 59. It’s sloppy, but on his return to oche clears 111 to take the second leg. (2-0)
Just when you think the game is going away from Buntz, Kenny fails to hit D20 to clear 71 allowing Buntz in. And he accepts the invitation. Buntz hits tops. (2-1)
Buntz has a good chance to level the leg 86 and does so! Hitting two 18s and the bull. (2-2).

Buntz missed the chance to take 146 and it’s Kenny who takes the tops with the first dart to win the first leg (1-0).
It gets even better for Kenny! The Welshman misses two tops to take the second leg on the first attempt but as Buntz misses the tops, Kelly hits the mark with his second dart (2-0).
Kenny hits the first 180 of the session in the third leg and is putting Buntz under all sorts of pressure, but the American leaves 28 with his first 180 and hits the D14 to pull one back. (2-1).

This is the second appearence at Ally Pally for USA's Buntz, who admitted treating the tournament last year as a "vacation" which he is keen to put right this time around. Kenny, the world number 76, is targeting a win that will help him keep his PDC Tour Card for next year.

The St Helens man has been inconsistent since his maiden win but after scooping the World Cup of Darts title earlier this year, many fans have backed him to pick up the world championship title once again.

Upsets and high scores in afternoon session
The fifth day of the 2024/25 World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace saw a mix of exciting upsets and dominant performances.
Owen stuns Clemens
Welshman Robert Owen produced a stunning upset, defeating fancied German Gabriel Clemens 3-1 in a thrilling second-round encounter. Owen, who averaged just under 100 throughout the match, displayed impressive finishing to seal the victory over world number 27 Clemens.
Lee causes big upset
Hong Kong qualifier Lok-Yin Lee caused a major shock, defeating highly-rated Chris Landman 3-1. Lee showcased nerves of steel, utilising the energy from an entertained Ally Pally crowd in crucial moments to secure a memorable victory.
Rydz dominates
Callan Rydz continued his impressive form, defeating Romeo Grbavac 3-0 with a tournament-high average of 114. The Englishman displayed exceptional scoring power and clinical finishing. He faces world number 22 Martin Schindler in the next round.

16:22 GMT - Owen lands the fifth max of the match. He wires the bull off 81 to take the leg. Clemens takes out a stunning 143 to fire up the Alexandra Palace crowd. Sublime stuff!
Another 180 from Owen. Clemens is still scoring big as well. Owen pins an 81 finish to break Clemens to put him two away from the win.
Owen has the darts. Both players averaging well over 100 in this set. Owen lays up 40 for the leg, which he dispatches calmly to take it to 2-1.
Clemens misses his chance on the doubles, leaving Owen with a go at tops for the match. He pins it in one dart, giving him a 3-1 upset win.
16:14 GMT - What a huge set this is for Robert Owen. And for Clemens.
The German throws first. Owen breaks early to make it six legs on the spin and 1-0 in legs.
Owen can't take out 170. Clemens goes for 117 and takes it well to make it 1-1. An immediate break back.
Another solid leg now from Clemens who's putting up a fight. He takes out double 8 to hold his throw. He's one leg away from the set.
A decent 171 and 165 from Clemens puts the pressure on and he gets a look at double 12 which he hits first time to take the set. It's 2-1.
16:02 GMT - Owen races to a quick hold at the start of the second set. Clemens then hits a couple of 180s but misses a couple at the double. Owen just misses a champagne finish. Three more misses at the double for Clemens and Owen forces the break of throw. It's 2-1 in legs.
"Germany get battered everywhere they go" rings out from the crowd.
Owen lays up tops and sinks it for a 2-0 set lead.
15:51 GMT - Clemens has had a rough time in his TV appearances this year, so he'll be keen to start well.
Owen rocks straight up with a 180. He struggles to follow up with much, though. Clemens tees up 28 and takes it out to hold the first leg.
Clemens picks up his first max of the match to leave 41 but misses. Owen takes double 7 to make it 1-1.
The German takes a look at 164 but can't do the business. Both players then miss big opportunities on the doubles, with Clemens finally winning a 21-dart leg. Ugly stuff. It's 2-1 to Clemens. Owen battles back again to take the fourth set via double 8, sending us to a decider.
Clemens has the throw, but Owen makes a big scoring start. He gives himself 81 after nine darts but messes up his finish, seemingly getting his scoring mixed up. He still returns for 37, which goes out via double 11 to take the first set: 1-0.
15:29 GMT - A second-round match between German Gabriel Clemens and Welshman Robert Owen concludes the afternoon session today.
All eyes on the 27th-ranked Clemens in this one.
15:24 GMT - Kumar sinks his first maximum of the match against the throw. Lukeman leaves 83 and Kumar can't take out 117, allowing Lukeman in with a crucial finish on the bull to hold the first leg.
Lukeman's going to want some big scores, it could be a massive break now. Kumar comes out firing and misses 68. Lukeman can't take out 75, so Kumar takes out 32 to win the leg and hold: 1-1.
A missed chance there for Lukeman. Kumar hits another 180 to apply the pressure and break Lukeman. He misses two darts for the leg. Lukeman takes out 76 to pinch it and put him a set away from the match.
Kumar opens with another fine 180, but Lukeman returns with a series of ton-plus scores. He leaves 84 for the match but misses the bull. He returns for 41 and sticks it to win the match 3-1.
15:13 GMT - Kumar leaves tops in the first leg of the third set and pins it with his last dart to hold.
Lukeman looks to respond and hits a second 180. He leaves 46 in nine darts but can't take it out. He comes back with 18 to finish but bodges it on double 4. Kumar can't respond on 146, Lukeman finally sinks double 1 to narrowly hold his throw.
Kumar steps up with the darts. Lukeman's finding his trebles with some regularity now and narrowly misses a 124 checkout. He returns for 16, which he gets in one attempt to break and throw for the set.
The Englishman leaves 56 but misses two set darts at tops. Kumar has 58 for a break of throw, but he then misses two at tops himself. Lukeman returns looking for double 10 and involving the crowd, and he eventually pins it for a 2-1 set lead.
14:58 GMT - Lukeman throws first in the second set. He leaves 36 but fluffs his lines, but eventually takes the first leg.
Both players averaging around the 90 mark, Kumar edging it slightly. Lukeman sees a 180 bounce out, Kumar takes out 68 to hold and make it 1-1.
Lukeman sees another 180 bounce out. Crikey. Kumar looks to capitalise but can't. Lukeman hits a double 16 to make it 2-1 in legs.
Lukeman then breaks with a 74 checkout to level the match 1-1 in sets.
14:44 GMT - Grand Slam finalist Lukeman will be clear favourite for this one. Can Kumar cause a big upset here?
Kumar throws first. It's a sluggish start from both. Kumar narrowly misses a 141 out, but comes back to clean up the first leg with a double 12. It's 1-0 Kumar.
Lukeman leaves 112 but misses tops. Kumar goes for 148 but can't take advantage. Lukeman puns tops for 1-1.
Lukeman hits the first 180 in the third leg and sinks 104 to break throw and make it 2-1. With the darts in hand, he then misses four for the set, allowing Kumar back in to steal via a cool 90 checkout. It's 2-2, and Kumar with the throw.
Lukeman can't take out 126, Kumar steps up for 32 and eventually gets double 8. Kumar takes a 1-0 lead.
14:20 GMT - Up next is world number 38 Martin Lukeman against Nitin Kumar.
14:16 GMT - It's been sensational stuff from Rydz, who's averaging 114 (a near-tournament high) going into this third set.
Grbavac leaves 56 to hold, but he can't take it out. Rydz has a gift the break and takes out double 9 in two darts. Rydz now has the darts and is nailing the trebles. The Croatian isn't even playing badly, not by any stretch, but Rydz hammers his third 180 and is looking good. He takes out 47 on tops to move one away from the match. Just one leg dropped.
Rydz leaves 121 against the throw but can't take it. With a ton to take out, Romeo sinks it to take the leg and hold.
Rydz now throwing for the match, hammers a 140, 100 and 95 to leave 100 finish. He misses, but comes back for tops to seal an excellent performance. It finishes 3-0, and he ends with a 107 average, the highest of the tournament so far.
14:03 GMT - Rydz starts fast again in the second set. He leaves 84 for another 11-darter to make it 1-0.
Grbavac with the darts, but Rydz isn't mucking about it seems. He misses tops to hold, and Rydz can't take 139. Grbavac levels the set with a double 10.
Rydz gets down to 40 and pins it at the first attempt to make it 2-1. He'll fancy going for a break here and sinks a 180 to leave 139. He just misses tops. Grbavac can't capitalise but gives it a good go, Rydz comes back and takes the two-set lead.
13:54 GMT - Croatian debutant Grbavac has the darts and throws first. Rydz quickly leaves himself a double 20 to break in the first leg.
Rydz hits the first max of the match in the second leg. He's started fast, leaving 54 which he takes out. An 11-dart leg, that.
An array of 140s for both before Rydz leaves 129. He misses, and Grbavac misses his checkout, which Rydz punishes. An average of 118 and a comfortable first set for the Englishman.

13:35 GMT - Landman hasn't had a break - literally or figuratively - in this whole match. He's got to find some now.
Lee has the darts and misses bull, but Landman botches two at double 8, which Lee takes out to make it seven straight legs and another hold.
Landman looks to at least hold but he looks like a beaten man right now. He misses two at tops to give Lee a go at 72, which he just misses.
Landman misses another three doubles, Lee pins tops and it's 2-0 in legs.
Lee has the darts and is throwing for the match. Landman gets to a finish first but he misses two at the double. Lee still has 160 and can't take it out. Landman misses another three at double. Lee takes out 60 to win the match 3-1!
13:26 GMT - Lee leaves 62 for a fast break on the Dutchman, which he does very calmly with two darts to break. That's his fourth leg on the spin.
Lee's looking like he's finding his feet here. A few more big scoring visits and a 78 checkout sees him hold and go 2-0 up in legs.

The Dutchman picks up a 180 in the second, but Lee holds his own.
Landman cruises to the third via double 18 for a 13-dart leg. Lee then levels it at 2-2 after a few cracks at double 16.
