23:46 GMT - Looking for a round-up on tonight's action? You can find that right here

That'll about wrap things up, thank you for joning us. We go again tomorrow!

22:49 GMT - He's done it. Short work for Wales' Price tonight as he claims a 3-0 win over Irishman Barry to get his World Championship campaign rolling!

22:37 GMT - Boom! A bit of a closer one, but Price makes it 2-0. This match could be over very quickly.

22:25 GMT - That was quick! Price wins all three legs to claim the first set over Barry in a touch over five minutes.

22:05 GMT - Up next, and in our last match of the night, Welsh star Gerwyn Price takes on Ireland's Keane Barry.

21:58 GMT - Gates has done it! He beats Menzies 3-1 to progress and the Scotsman is visibly distraught.

21:48 GMT - Gates gets a second set and now leads 2-1. Do we have an upset on the cards?

21:35 GMT - Menzies levels it! 1-1.

21:17 GMT - That's a surprise! The first set goes to Gates.

20:59 GMT - Up next, Scotland's Cameron Menzies takes on Leonard Gates of the USA.

20:55 GMT - Well, Scutt made short work of Robb. The Englishman progresses after a 3-0 win.

20:35 GMT - Scutt takes the first set!

20:20 GMT - Up next, Englishman Connor Scutt takes on New Zealand's Ben Robb.

20:15 GMT - He's done it! Owen wins it 3-1 after dropping the first set.

20:00 GMT - Owen now leads 2-1! A wonderful turnaround against Zonneveld by the Welshman. Can he now go on to win?

19:46 GMT - Owen pulls one back! It's now 1-1.

19:35 GMT - It's not the start Owen would have wanted as Zonneveld goes one up!

18:50 GMT - Niels Zonneveld gets things going against Wales' Robert Owen before England's Connor Scutt plays Ben Robb of New Zealand.

Scotland's Cameron Menzies takes on the American Leonard Gates before making way for 2021 champion Gerwyn Price, who clashes with Ireland's Keane Barry.

18:35 GMT - We're back for more World Championship action at Alexandra Palace as we gear up for the evening session.

James Wade's early exit this afternoon has caused a stir – will there be more upsets in the offing tonight?

17:08 GMT - Check out a comprehensive round-up of all four matches from this afternoon's World Championship action.

We'll be back later for the evening session which gets underway at around 19:00 GMT and concludes with Gerwyn Price in action.

16:43 GMT - James Wade is beaten 3-1 by Jermaine Wattimena and is out of the World Championship!

The Dutchman wins nine of the 11 legs in the match and averages just shy of 100 in a rock-solid display against the 16th seed.

Wade is the first seed to fall in the tournament, dropping out at the first hurdle.

16:31 GMT - Wade is in deep trouble now as Wattimena grabs a 2-0 lead!

The Englishman has made just one of nine checkouts so far this match, allowing Wattimena to punish and extend his advantage.

Both players scored well with 100+ averages, but it's the Dutchman in the driving seat.

16:20 GMT - Not the start Wade would have wanted as Wattimena wins the deciding leg to go 1-0 up.

Wattimena pounces on some slack darts to grab the early lead in a fast-paced match so far, while Wade shakes his head.

16:04 GMT - Concluding the afternoon session is world number 16 James Wade against the threatening Jermaine Wattimena.

Wade is a four-time semi-finalist at the World Championship and will be looking to get off on the right foot here.

15:58 GMT - Kai Gotthardt defeats Scotland's Alan Soutar 3-1 on his World Championship debut!

Soutar began the more comfortable of the two and threatened to force a final-set decider, but fell away as Gotthardt found his rhythm and kept his cool.

15:46 GMT - Gotthardt is taking over now as he romps through set three to claim a 2-1 lead over Soutar.

He records an average just shy of 94 in the set and misses just one dart at double to take control.

15:35 GMT - Good response from Gotthardt as he levels the match at 1-1 despite a bit of an awkward middle of the set.

He and Soutar produced a series of misses on the doubles, but the German prevails to equalise.

15:22 GMT - Soutar breaks through first and leads 1-0!

The Scotsman looks very comfortable up there and takes the deciding leg, while Gotthardt gives a little shake of the head as he walks away.

15:18 GMT - Gotthardt is back up there with a new set. It came with Soutar leading 2-1 in legs in the opening set, but will the stoppage affect either player?

15:16 GMT - Brief pause in play here as Gotthardt's dart seems to have snapped in half.

He leaves the stage to sort out a replacement while Soutar remains up patiently by the oche, not seeming to be flustered.

He laps up the crowd, who are throwing a series of "Scotland get battered" chants his way.

15:01 GMT - This afternoon's action continues with the returning Alan Soutar taking on Germany's Kai Gotthardt.

The Scotsman missed out on the World Championship last year after failing to qualify for the event.

14:55 GMT - Luke Woodhouse progresses into round two with a pretty straightforward 3-0 win over Lourence Ilagan.

The quality ramped up in set three with Ilagan notching his first two legs of the match, but Woodhouse took the decider.

He'll face Mike De Decker – this year's World Grand Prix champion – in round two on Tuesday.

14:37 GMT - This is ruthless stuff from Woodhouse as he reels off his sixth straight leg to take a 2-0 lead.

He's averaging comfortably up in the 90s after taking out 115 to wrap up the frame.

Ilagan has no answers at the moment and needs to find some quickly with an early exit looming.

14:25 GMT - Composed start to this one for Woodhouse as he takes the opening set with no trouble.

The Englishman has already hit a 180 and four 140+ scores to notch more than a 104 average.

14:13 GMT - Next up, England's Luke Woodhouse is against Lourence Ilagan of the Philippines.

This is Woodhouse's sixth World Championship appearance and reached the European Championship semi-finals this year.

14:08 GMT - Wesley Plaisier takes down Ryusei Azemoto 3-2 to move into the second round and set up a clash with two-time champ Peter Wright.

It was a bit of a struggle for the Dutchman, who was a set down, but he cranked things up in the latter stages of the match to take control.

13:57 GMT - This one's going to a final-set decider as Plaisier ties it up at 2-2!

Plaisier ups the ante by averaging more than 98 in a set where he fired in the long-awaited first 180 of the match.

Azemoto didn't score too badly there, but the momentum looks to have shifted in the Dutchman's favour.

13:45 GMT - Azemoto claims an extremely scrappy third set to establish a 2-1 lead.

Both players haven't done much to get the Ally Pally crowd animated but it's Azemoto who is currently one away from victory.

13:28 GMT - It's a scruffy one, but Plaisier won't care as he survives a wobble to take the second set and level things up at 1-1.

Azemoto threatened a turnaround at two legs down and knocked in a 102 finish – the biggest of the match so far – but Plaisier holds firm.

Plaisier is averaging just shy of 80 while Azemoto registered just 70.52 in set two.

13:08 GMT - It's a strong start for Azemoto who takes the first set against a rather wayward Plaisier.

The Japanese looks confident up there and is outscoring his opponent well, recording four 140+ throws already.

12:48 GMT - Let's get things going, shall we? Up first it's the battle of the debutants with the Netherlands' Wesley Plaisier up against Ryusei Azemoto of Japan.

The winner here will face two-time champion Peter Wright in round two.

12:15 GMT - Here's a quick recap of what happened last night on the opening night.

It wasn't a flawless display but Luke Humphries won all nine legs en route to a 3-0 win over Thibault Tricole to move into the third round.

11:30 GMT - We get started from 12:30 GMT for the afternoon session with debutants Wesley Plaisier and Ryusei Azemoto before Luke Woodhouse takes on Lourence Ilagan.

Scotsman Alan Soutar plays Kai Gotthardt before four-time semi-finalist James Wade squares off with Jermaine Wattimena.

We then return for the evening session from 19:00 GMT with Niels Zonneveld against Robert Owen, Connor Scutt versus Ben Robb and Cameron Menzies facing Leonard Gates.

That is all before 2021 champion Gerwyn Price takes to the stage to face Keane Barry to round out the day's play.

11:30 GMT - Good morning and welcome to Flashscore's Darts Tracker on day two of the 2024/25 World Darts Championship!

We're getting ready to dive into more early-round action from Alexandra Palace after reigning champion Luke Humphries got off to a winning start on Sunday night.
