Jonny Clayton beat Peter Wright 6-5 in a final-leg decider to win night ten of the Premier League darts at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham.

Clayton, the 2021 champion and winner in Berlin on night nine, hit a remarkable double 12 on the way to securing back-to-back final victories that lifts him to third-place in the Premier League table on 17 points.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 48-year-old said he felt fortunate after extending his Premier League winning streak to six matches.

"I think I’m riding my luck, to be honest. I feel good. I’m playing okay, not my best darts but I’m getting through games and that’s all that counts.

"I bite my tongue a lot when I’m missing scores but my doubling seems to be okay.

"It’s fantastic to see myself back in top form after being seventh in the league. It’s brilliant. I’ve got a smile on my face and that’s where I want to be: Jonny Clayton, finals week, top four."

Bottom of the table Peter Wright was in danger of missing the cut but his run to the final has seen him collect three crucial points and is now only ten adrift of Michael Smith - who he beat 6-1 in the evening's quarter-final - in fourth.

Michael van Gerwen still leads the table and reached the semi-final in Birmingham courtesy of a thumping 6-2 win over Chris Dobey before losing four legs in a row during a surprise 6-3 defeat to eventual winner Clayton.

Gerwyn Price is five points behind Clayton in second-place after a narrow 6-5 defeat to Peter Wright in the evening's other semi-final.

Price reached the latter stage with a remarkable 6-5 win over Belgium's Dimitri Van den Bergh and was tipped to reach the final.

The Welshman found himself 3-0 up and appeared to be cruising before losing the next three to set-up a nailbiting finale.
