The BetMGM Premier League of Darts has reached the play-offs with four superstars in contention to take home the title of the Premier League Champion. The Premier League of Darts culmination takes place at The O2 in London on Thursday, May 29th at 7pm, where the winner will receive £275,000.
Over the past 16 weeks, eight giants of the darts world have duked it out to see who will make it to the final night. It all started on Night One on February 6 at The SSE Arena in Belfast. Since then, we have had 112 matches, six different nightly winners, five nine-darters, and 708 180s.
We as fans have travelled up and down the country, and even into Europe, with the players, watching some breathtaking darts being thrown. We now have our confirmed finalists who will head to the O2 next week, and they are: table topper Luke Littler, PDC World Number One Luke Humphries, ‘The Iceman’ Gerwyn Price, and finally, winning his space over the legend that is Michael van Gerwen, ‘The Asp’ Nathan Aspinall.
Luke Littler heads into the finals as favourite, having set a record in the Premier League again this season. The 18-year-old broke his own Premier League seasonal points record, reaching 45 points and a record-extending sixth nightly win in Sheffield on Night 16, finishing top.
Luke Humphries will always be dangerous and proved that by winning three nights overall and finishing the league phase second. Over the weeks, Humphries has had some amazing wins over Littler, along with nailing a nine-darter.
Nathan Aspinal was third in the table with two nightly wins and came in riding high after his inclusion in the tournament was questioned when he was announced. The man from Stockport has proven over the league that he has more than just a popular walk-on in his locker.
Then, fourth in the table, is Gerwyn Price. The Welshman won three nights himself and seemed to have Littler’s number for a lot of the league. He is the most recent player to hit a nine-darter and will be a dangerous opponent on the O2 stage.
The Play-Offs are set to be an amazing night of tungsten throwing action.
Play-Off Fixtures

Previous winners
Last year, the Premier League was won by the debuting Luke Littler. In the league, he set a record points tally, which he has beaten this year, and beat Luke Humphries in the final 11-7. This was Littler’s first major title and made him the youngest player to win a major PDC tournament. He even hit a nine-darter in the finals.
In 2023, a time pre-Littler, Michael van Gerwen won the Premier League. The Green Machine has won a record seven Premier League titles, also winning in 2022, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016 and 2013.
In between those years of Van Gerwen’s dominance, Glen Durrant (2020) and Jonny Clayton (2021) won the Premier League. ‘Duzza’ won the 2020 Premier League on his debut, topping the league phase and beating Gary Anderson and Nathan Aspinall in the semi-finals and finals, respectively.
Clayton won the 2021 edition with a topsy-turvy league phase that saw him drop from first to eighth before clawing his way back to fourth on Night 16. On finals night, ‘The Ferret’ beat MVG before defeating Jose de Sousa in the final. He became the first Welshman to win the title and the first player to finish the league phase fourth to win the title.
