Big names continue to fall in second round of World Matchplay

World champion Michael Smith failed to reach the quarter-finals of the World Matchplay on Tuesday evening.

Chris Dobey was too strong for the world number one 11-7 in Blackpool, England.

Former world champions Gerwyn Price and Gary Anderson were also eliminated on Tuesday night.

Price, fourth in the world rankings, lost 13-11 to Joe Cullen, who is ten places lower. Anderson had to acknowledge his superiority to Daryl Gurney 11-4.

After Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld, Danny Noppert has now also been eliminated. The world number eight went down 11-9 against world number nine Nathan Aspinall.
