England's path to 2026 World Cup final
Due to England's Pot 1 seeding, England could have a favourable path through the knockout rounds into the July 19th final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
They could miss the likes of Argentina, Spain and France until the semi-finals, but only if all four teams win their respective groups.
If England win Group L, they will face a third-place team from either Group E, H, I, J or K in the round of 32.
Then they would face the winner of Group A, which could be co-hosts Mexico at their very own Estadio Azteca.
In the quarter-finals, things spice up with Brazil projected to be their opponent, reigning champions Argentina potentially awaiting in the semis and a final date with Spain or France.
If England finish as runners-up in their group, then things could become a lot more challenging.
Colombia could be their first opponents in the knockouts, before a daunting task against Spain in the last 16.
Passing that test, they could then meet Belgium, France then face Argentina in the final.
A third-place finish in the group can also get them through, but there are too many routes to plot at this very early stage.
