Former Scotland skipper Stuart Hogg will miss Montpellier's French Top 14 game with Perpignan this weekend after he was released on bail, his club coach said on Thursday.

Hogg, 32, had been due to stand trial at Jedburgh Sheriff Court, Scotland on Tuesday, accused of engaging in a course of conduct that caused his ex-wife Gillian Hogg "fear and alarm" over a seven-year period between 2017 and 2024.

However he was arrested after allegedly making contact with his former partner, and has been accused of a further stalking offence, and two charges of breaching his bail conditions.

"He will not be there this weekend," Montpellier head coach Joan Caudullo told reporters.

"He'll be available again from Monday," he added.

Hogg, who won the last of his 100 caps in March 2023 before announcing a surprise retirement, scored on his Montpellier debut last weekend.

Montpellier play Perpignan in Beziers on Saturday in the second round of the French Top 14.
