Red Bull director Oliver Mintzlaff has firmly dismissed speculation about Jurgen Klopp’s future as Head of Global Soccer at the company. "That’s complete nonsense and totally unfounded," the executive told SID when asked, after Salzburger Nachrichten reported that Klopp was "increasingly under scrutiny."

On the contrary, Red Bull CEO Mintzlaff said: "We are extremely satisfied with Jurgen Klopp’s work. He puts in a tremendous amount of effort, is in constant communication with our coaches and sporting directors, and is continuously developing our Red Bull football philosophy.

"We are convinced he is the right man for this job. That’s where we are focusing all our attention and energy."

Earlier, a media report had caused a stir, claiming that just over a year after taking over at Red Bull, Klopp was "no longer undisputed." Salzburger Nachrichten even asked: "Is Jurgen Klopp about to leave Red Bull?"

Glasner considered a candidate

Oliver Glasner, coach of Premier League club Crystal Palace, has already been mentioned as a possible successor to Klopp. The Austrian is said to be "at the very top of the wish list" should Klopp and Red Bull part ways. But according to Mintzlaff, that’s not going to happen.

Klopp, who won numerous titles with Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool FC, has recently been linked in various media with several top clubs, including Real Madrid, after their split with Xabi Alonso.

"As a person, I’m at a point where I’m completely happy with my situation. I don’t want to be anywhere else," Klopp recently told AFP. He said he doesn’t get excited when he hears that Real Madrid might be interested.

"If that’s even the case – but those are just media speculations."
