Who is currently top of the table, and how are the champions from previous seasons doing around Europe? Flashscore summarises the standings of all European leagues in the 2025/26 season at the winter break.

Germany

Champions 2024/25: Bayern Munich

Current league leaders: Bayern Munich

Lead: Nine points over Borussia Dortmund

After FC Bayern brought the championship back to the Isar under Vincent Kompany in the 2024/25 season with 82 points, the record champions are dominating the current season at will.

At the winter break, Bayern lead the table with 41 points from 15 games and are the only unbeaten team in the league. Borussia Dortmund follow in second place with 32 points.

Champions 2024/25: Liverpool

Current league leaders: Arsenal

Lead: Two points ahead of Manchester City

Liverpool: Fifth place, 10 points behind first place

In England, Arsenal will spent Christmas at the top of the table for the fifth time in the club's history. With 39 points from 17 games, Mikel Arteta's team leads the league, closely followed by Manchester City (37 points), who were able to close the gap after the Gunners suffered a minor setback in December.

The biggest surprise of the first half of the season, however, is Aston Villa, who are in third place with 36 points and have established themselves as serious title contenders. Reigning champions Liverpool are currently in fifth place (29 points), level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea.

Spain

Champions 2024/25: Barcelona

Current league leaders: Barcelona

Lead: Four points ahead of Real Madrid

There is a clear hierarchy in Spain at the 2025/26 winter break, even if the title race remains exciting. After Barcelona celebrated the domestic treble (championship, cup and Super Cup) under Hansi Flick in the previous season, the Catalans still lead the table with 46 points from 18 games.

Real Madrid are in second place with 42 points. Although Los Bloncos won the head-to-head tie in October, they lost too many points against supposed outsiders in the first half of the season. Atletico Madrid follow in third place (37 points).

Champions 2024/25: Napoli

Napoli: Third place, two points behind first place

In Italy, we are witnessing an extremely tight race at the top at the 2025/26 winter break. After Napoli under Antonio Conte dramatically celebrated the Scudetto on the final matchday last season, Inter Milan, coached by Cristian Chivu, have now taken over the reins at Christmas. With 33 points from 15 games, the Nerazzurri are narrowly leading the field.

Directly behind them in second place with 32 points are city rivals AC Milan, who have only suffered one defeat so far this season. Reigning champions Napoli lurk in third place with 31 points, followed by AS Roma (30 points) and Juventus (29 points), both of whom have already played 16 games.

Paris Saint-Germain: Second place

A look at the table is currently causing astonishment in France: it is not the perennial champions from Paris, but Lens under coach Pierre Sage, who are at the top of Ligue 1 this winter. With 37 points from 16 games, the underdogs have played an impressive autumn and won nine of their last 10 league games.

Paris Saint-Germain follow in second place with 36 points. Although the Champions League winners have the better goal difference, they slipped up against Monaco at the end of November and had to relinquish the lead in the table.

Sturm Graz: Third place, four points behind first place

In Austria, FC Red Bull Salzburg is determined to bring the trophy back to the city of Mozart after two years of dominance by Sturm Graz. At the winter break, the 'Bulls' lead the table with 32 points.

Their closest rivals are LASK under coach Didi Kuhbauer, who have put together an impressive run of 29 points and are in second place for the winter. Reigning champions SK Sturm Graz are in third place with 28 points and, after a mixed autumn, still have every chance of defending their title as soon as the points ahead of the group of champions are halved.

Turkey

Champions 2024/25: Galatasaray

In Turkey, reigning champions Galatasaray Istanbul are still the measure of all things at the end of 2025. At the winter break, the 'Lions' lead the table with 42 points from 17 games.

Galatasaray secured the autumn championship with a commanding 3-0 victory over Kasimpasa last weekend, with Mauro Icardi making history by becoming the most successful foreign goalscorer in the club's history.

However, eternal rivals Fenerbahce remain within striking distance. They are in second place with 39 points and are the only unbeaten team in the league this season.

FCSB Bucharest : Ninth place, nine points behind first place

After FCSB successfully defended their title last year, the tide turned in the first half of the 2025/26 season. Universitatea Craiova only conquered the top of the table on the last matchday before the winter break with a brilliant 5-0 win against Csikszereda, while runners-up Rapid Bucharest lost at reigning champions FCSB. However, the latter are otherwise experiencing a very weak first half of the season and are currently only in ninth place.

Lead: One point over Ferencvaros

After seven consecutive championships for Ferencvaros, Gyor lead the table at the 2025/26 winter break. With 35 points, Gyor is just ahead of the record champions (34 points), who lost top spot on the penultimate matchday before the break due to a home defeat against Debrecen. Paksi FC are also lurking in the extremely tight top group, just two points behind the league leaders.

The usual dominance continues in Wales: The New Saints continue to lead the table in the 2025/26 season. With 47 points from 19 games, they have already built up a comfortable cushion over their rivals from Connah's Quay (37 points). While TNS are on course for their fifth title in a row, Penybont and Caernarfon Town are fighting to keep up with the international places behind them.

It remains exciting in Slovakia at the winter break. Defending champions Slovan Bratislava lead the table with 39 points, but are closely followed by DAC Dunajska Streda, who have 38 points after 18 matchdays. DAC have the significantly better goal difference (+21) compared to Slovan (+12).

Spartak Trnava follow in third place (35 points), while MSK Zilina are also within striking distance of the top with 34 points. The league is now in the winter break until 7 February 2026.

FK Iberia 1999 Tbilisi (formerly Saburtalo Tbilisi) defended their title in a dramatic season finale. They were neck-and-neck with FC Dila Gori until the final matchday on 6 December 2025. In the end, Iberia secured the championship with 80 points, while Dila Gori only managed second place with 78 points despite a strong season. Shelbourne FC: Third place, seven points behind first place

After Shelbourne FC broke Shamrock Rovers' four-year winning streak in a tight final in 2024, the Rovers reclaimed the throne in 2025. In an equally explosive season, they secured their 22nd league title early on 29 October with a 1-0 win over Galway United. Derry City finished the season as runners-up and also secured their place in the Europa League qualifiers thanks to Rovers' success in the FAI Cup. Last year's champions, Shelbourne, finished in third place. The new season starts in February.

The league in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been reduced in size for the 2025/26 season (from 12 to 10 teams), which has noticeably increased the density of competition. In Latvia, we can look back on an extremely close duel in the capital over the past two years. After two titles in a row for FK RFS, Riga FC came out on top in one of the closest championship races in recent years. Just like their rivals the previous year, Riga FC secured the title on the penultimate matchday, meaning they could even afford a defeat in the final game.

Although FK RFS set a historic offensive mark with 100 goals scored this season, Riga FC's extremely stable defence (only 26 goals conceded) was the decisive factor in the club's fourth championship in its history.
