Live updates

22:42 GMT - That brings our coverage to an end for another week. We'll be back for the Premier League fixtures this weekend, before the chaos that is matchday eight in the Champions League next week.

Thanks for joining us!

22:40 GMT - Liverpool boss Arne Slot felt his side "had to be really good" to beat Marseille today.

"It is a tricky place to go," Slot told TNT Sports.

"Because of their fans, but definitely also because of the players they have and the manager they have - they have always a very good idea of how to play.

"And we had to be really good today to beat them, and I think that's what we were."

22:28 GMT - Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior is enjoying life at Chelsea so far and feels they dominated the game despite a narrow 1-0 win against Pafos.

"We knew Pafos were very well-organised," he told TNT Sports.

"The games they've played in this competition have always been a big challenge.

"A lot of good things, just the final bit. We had dominance, control, the goalkeeper made some good saves, but the thing I really liked about the team today was the body language.

"It never changed, the energy, the counter press, was really good. You want to score more goals but we're in a position where if we win the next game, we're in the top eight."

22:25 GMT - Newcastle goalscorer Harvey Barnes says his side executed their game plan to perfection against PSV tonight.

"It's a big step in the right direction for us," Barnes told TNT Sports.

"We knew it was important to go and get a good result for us tonight.

"They are a team that wants to play out, and we are a pressing team; we executed it really well. We grew into the game and in the end was a comfortable one."

22:23 GMT - Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk was pleased with his side's performance in France tonight.

"It's always difficult to play against De Zerbi's team because if you're not front-footed, then they can play out pretty easily," he told TNT Sports.

"They keep on playing and taking a risk. We exploited the space well, and I think the performance is good.

"We always keep saying it after a win or a good result. Fully focus on recovery now, and then we go to Bournemouth, and they're hard to beat. We have to be more than ready. We fly back tomorrow. On to the next."

22:19 GMT - Tonight's results mean four of the five Premier League clubs are currently in the top eight ahead of the final matchday next week (look away Manchester City fans).

Bayern Munich and Arsenal are safely through to the knockouts. The other six automatic places remain up for grabs.

22:06 GMT - Newcastle have kept a clean sheet in four of their seven games, only Tottenham Hotspur (five, remarkably) and Arsenal (also five) have done this more often in the UEFA Champions League this season.

22:03 GMT - We'll have reaction for you when it drops.

In the meantime, here's a rundown of all the results tonight:

20:45 GMT - GOAL! Robert Lewandowski has scored - but it's an own goal. The Polish striker heads the corner kick behind his own keeper. The score is 2-2.

20:44 GMT - We're approaching half-time and Liverpool are still yet to have a shot on target against Marseille, a side who traditionally like scoring goals at home.

20:43 GMT - GOAL! Fermin Lopez bags his second in eight minutes to put Barcelona ahead against Slavia Prague.

20:35 GMT - GOAL! Fermin Lopez levels the scores for Barcelona in Prague.

20:30 GMT - GOAL! Newcastle double their lead against PSV.

Their high press puts the Dutch side's defence under pressure, before Wissa finds Anthony Gordon, who finds the back of the net.

That's Gordon's sixth in the Champions League this season - only Kylian Mbappe has scored more.

20:26 GMT - Liverpool's Hugo Ekitike has had a goal ruled out by VAR for offside against Marseille. Still 0-0 in the Stade Velodrome.

20:18 GMT - Chelsea think they've scored, but the goal is ruled out for a push in the build-up by Enzo Fernandez. They're knocking, though.

Elsewhere, Atalanta are ahead against Athletic Bilbao thanks to a goal from Gianluca Scamacca.

20:16 GMT - Reece James goes close with a strong long-range effort, but it narrowly goes wide. It's all Chelsea at the Bridge so far.

19:51 GMT - Before we get going with the remaining fixtures, just a note on the two early games: surprise package Qarabag beat Frankfurt 3-2, and Atletico took a 1-1 draw away from Galatasaray.

17:40 GMT - Eddie Howe urged Newcastle to use the spirit of former boss Bobby Robson as they target a vital Champions League victory against PSV Eindhoven.

Robson enjoyed a successful two-year stint in charge of PSV in the 1990s before finishing his managerial career with five years at Newcastle from 1999 to 2004.

"We're all well aware of the history with Sir Bobby," Howe told reporters on Tuesday.

"Hard work, organisation, always going to the end, never giving up, and trying to do the crowd justice by representing the club in the right way, these are all values he stood for."

17:37 GMT - In Liam Rosenior's first experience of Champions League football, the Blues can assure themselves of at least a place in the play-off round with victory over the Cypriot champions.

Will he continue his decent start?

17:15 GMT - Three English clubs are in action tonight.

Chelsea welcome Cypriot side Pafos to Stamford Bridge, while Liverpool face a tricky away tie at Roberto De Zerbi's Marseille and Newcastle welcome Dutch giants PSV to the north of England.

All those kick off at 20:00 GMT - follow all the goals and action as it happens right here.

17:00 GMT - Welcome back, folks.

We have plenty more Champions League action for you this evening as we near the end of the league phase.

Tuesday, January 20th

23:01 GMT - That'll do it for us tonight. See you next time!

22:30 GMT - Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus says scoring two goals made for a "dream night" that brought tears to his eyes.

"It's a dream night," he told Amazon Prime. "I always dreamed of being a footballer. I watched when I was a kid.

"I watched a lot of Serie A, so to be here in this stadium and score here is tears in my eyes because I always dreamed of being here.

"There is always a reason that things happen, whether it's good things or difficult things. I learned that during my 11 months out of the field.

"It is always difficult to play against Inter Milan. We came here last season and lost. Tonight we played better than them; we controlled them, but they are a top team, and they attack. We scored at the end and got the three points. We have to keep going because we have another one at the weekend."

21:54 GMT - FULL-TIME:

Inter 1-3 Arsenal: The Gunners have booked their spot in the last 16 of the Champions League with that win, which featured a return to grace for Gabriel Jesus. Read our report here.

21:21 GMT - Speaking after his side's 3-1 defeat in Norway, Erling Haaland paid credit to Bodo/Glimt for their win but also apologised to the Man City fans for not scoring any goals - saying "in the end it's embarrassing".

"I think a deserved win for Bodo. Without a doubt, they play incredibly here at home," he said. "We did our best, but something is missing.

"I don't want to blame anyone, but we need to take more responsibility because in the end, it's not good enough.

"We are Man City, we can't go around and not win games. It shouldn't be like this. I take full responsibility for not being able to score the goals that I should have.

"I apologise to everyone, every single Man City supporter and every single supporter that travelled today because in the end it's embarrassing."
