Atalanta welcome Chelsea to Italy in matchday six of the UEFA Champions League, a matchday that sees the last matches in the competition of 2025. Both Atalanta and Chelsea are in the top ten of the league and know that a win here will strengthen their chance of getting a top-eight finish.
Atalanta would have wanted to come into this tie in better form than they currently have, having lost 3-1 to Hellas Verona on Saturday. In the Champions League, they won their last game against Eintracht Frankfurt and are unbeaten in their last four games in the competition.
Chelsea have not won a game since their last outing in the Champions League when they beat Barcelona. Since then, they have drawn two and lost one, so they will be looking to get back on track in this game.

Atalanta team news
Atalanta left the loss at Hellas Verona with no new injury worries. Kalameen Sulemana was missing from that game with a muscle injury, whereas Mitchel Bakker has been out since last season after suffering an ACL injury.
Despite the lack of injuries, changes could be afoot for the team after the horror show on Saturday. Gianluca Scamacca did not start against Verona but came off the bench to score, which was his fourth goal involvement in five games (2G, 2A). Davide Zappacosta will be hoping to play against his old team, with the Italian being on the books of the London club from 2017-2021, including two loans.
Atalanta predicted line-up vs Chelsea (3-4-1-2)
Coach: Raffaele Palladino
Carnesecchi; Kossounou, Hien, Djimsiti; Bellanova, Ederson, De Roon, Zappacosta; De Ketelaere; Lookman, Scamacca.
Chelsea team news
Chelsea’s bruising draw at Bournemouth is more than just a figure of speech. Liam Delap had to leave the pitch after 32 minutes with a suspected dislocated shoulder that will see the striker back on the treatment table. He had already missed 10 games this season with a hamstring injury and could now be out for as long. Marc Guiu came on to replace the striker rather than Joao Pedro and could be in line to start over the Brazilian on Tuesday.
Pedro did come on to the pitch to replace Cole Palmer, who himself was making his first start since returning from injury. His return to the starting lineup is a big boost to the team, despite the winless run they are on.
Chelsea predicted line-up vs Atalanta (4-2-3-1)
Coach: Enzo Maresca
Sanchez; Gusto, Acheampong, Chalobah, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Estevao, Palmer, Neto; Guiu.

Head-to-Head record
Atalanta and Chelsea will meet for the first time in European competition. Atalanta have played English opposition before but have only won one of their previous seven games against English sides in the UEFA Champions League (D3, L3).
Chelsea have not won away in the Champions League in their last four games, and have only registered two wins in their last 11 away games against Italian opposition. They did manage to win their last tie in Italy, beating AC Milan 2-0 in October 2022.
Neither team won in their most recent league fixtures, but Atalanta had won their last three before that in all competitions, which included their win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Chelsea were on a seven-game undefeated streak before they lost to Leeds on December 3rd. They would’ve wanted to beat Bournemouth on the weekend, but getting a point rather than losing will be seen as a success.
Chelsea are seventh on the Champions League table with 10 points and sit on the same amount of points as Atalanta, who are tenth on goal difference. A win from either would see them pull away from the other and be a solid step on the way to securing a top-eight finish.
