Barcelona host PSG in what is one of the biggest games of the Champions League. Los Culés are playing their first match since taking top spot in La Liga last weekend, while Luis Enrique's side are also top of Ligue 1, level on points with Lyon. Both teams started their European campaigns with victories, with PSG thrashing Atalanta 4-0 at home and Barcelona winning 2-1 in England against Newcastle in what is one of their toughest away games of the league campaign.
There are numerous absentees on both sides making a world-class encounter somewhat less attractive. Barça will be without Joan García, Fermín López, Gavi and Raphinha, as well as Ter Stegen, who has been absent since the summer, while Balde could return against PSG after also missing the game against Real Sociedad. PSG have been hit even harder than their opponents by injuries in recent weeks; former Barcelona Golden Ball winner Ousmane Dembélé is out, as are Joao Neves, Marquinhos, Doué and, most likely, Kvaratskhelia and Vitinha, who were injured in the French side's last league game.

With PSG's absentees and the home side's good form, Barcelona are favourites for this match. The injury-hit PSG lost their toughest away game of the season, 1-0 to Marseille in the league, and appear to be in a slightly more vulnerable position than usual. By contrast, Barcelona are unbeaten this season (W7, D1), and have scored two or more goals in their three home league games, all of which have been wins. Barça have won 10 of their last 13 official home games, with the only defeat in that period coming against Villarreal last season, when Barcelona had already won the championship.

This is probably the clearest prediction of all, considering the two teams who are playing. Both teams stand out for their attacking, ball-loving play, and were among the top scorers in the competition last season. For this season, all but one of Barça's official matches have had more than 2.5 goals, and three of the last four have also had goals from both teams. PSG are slightly less exuberant at this stage of the season, but six of their last seven games in European competition have had more than 2.5 goals and five of those have also had goals from both sides, including the Champions League opener against Atalanta and the European Super Cup against Tottenham, which PSG won on penalties (2-2).
