Tottenham make the long trip north to face Bodo/Glimt in what is just the second-ever meeting between the sides, the first coming in last season’s UEFA Europa League semi-final.

Spurs came through both legs comfortably, winning 3-1 at home and 2-0 in Norway, before lifting the trophy in May.

The hosts, meanwhile, are back on Europe’s biggest stage after a dramatic comeback in their opening group match at Slavia Prague, where they fought from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw.

That showed their spirit, but history is not on their side with Bodo/Glimt losing all five of their previous encounters with English opposition.

Tottenham, for their part, arrive under Thomas Frank looking to build on a narrow 1-0 win over Villarreal in their group opener.

Tottenham to win

Spurs have an excellent recent record in Europe, winning three of their last four away matches in continental competition, including both legs against Bodo/Glimt last season.

Frank’s side have pedigree when it comes to going forward scoring in 15 of their last 16 European fixtures.

Bodo/Glimt are strong at home domestically, but against English opposition they’ve lost five out of five. At odds of 11/10 with Bet365, Tottenham to win looks like solid value.

Tip: Tottenham to win @ 11/10

Bet explanation: This bet wins if Tottenham beats Bodo/Glimt regardless of the score

Xavi Simons to play 2+ shots

Xavi Simons is still searching for his first goal in a Spurs shirt, but his numbers in Europe suggest it may not be far away.

The Dutchman has attempted 2+ shots in six of his last seven Champions League appearances, often finding space between the lines.

With Bodo/Glimt’s defence having faced 18 shots against Slavia Prague on matchday one, Simons should get opportunities here. Bet365’s 33/100 price on him recording at least two efforts on goal looks a banker.

Tip: Xavi Simons to play 2+ shots @ 33/100

Bet explanation: This bet wins if Xavi Simons plays at least two shots against Bodo/Glimt.

Both teams to score

While Tottenham are favourites, their defence isn’t watertight. They’ve conceded in each of their last two league games, and Bodo/Glimt have scored at least twice in five of their last six European home fixtures.

The Norwegians showed their attacking threat with two late goals against Slavia Prague, and with Jens Petter Hauge in form, they can cause Spurs problems.

At 2/5 with Bet365, backing both sides to find the net feels like the smart play.

Tip: Both teams to score @ 2/5 with Bet365

Bet explanation: This bet wins if both Bodo/Glimt and Tottenham score at least a goal.
