Live updates
23:02 GMT - That's all for our Champions League coverage this evening, thanks for joining us. Make sure to come back tomorrow when we bring you all the big updates from the Europa League and Conference League.
22:52 GMT - Perhaps surprisingly, Pep Guardiola was quite understated in his post-match comments.
"It could be better, but of course it's always so difficult," he told TNT Sports.
"Four, five, six players played their first game here, so we are not completely ready. It's a process, with lots of new players. But winning here, we have to be happy, especially in terms of points.
"It's in our hands to finish in the top eight; that is our target."
22:48 GMT - Jude Bellingham says Real Madrid were unable to pinpoint where they lost the game to City.
"We're still trying to work it out within the changing room, regardless of what goes on outside," he told TNT Sports. "We know that's not helpful. One thing is how we're managing games.
"Certain points where we have to suffer it feels like we always concede and it puts us on the back foot and makes us have to play a way we don't want to.
"But in the changing room we have what we need to turn it around, we need maybe a bit of luck or maybe something we need to discuss internally. I have faith this season isn't over just because we're in a bad run of form."
The England forward voiced his support for under-fire boss Xabi Alonso.
"The manager has been great," Bellingham said. "I personally have a great relationship with him, and I know a lot of the boys do too.
"After that run of draws, we had some great conversations internally and felt we'd put that form behind us, but the last couple of games. No one is downing tools, no one complaining or moaning."
22:41 GMT - Below are the best bits from that important Man City win in the Spanish capital.
22:37 GMT - Man City's Erling Haaland, who scored the winner against Real Madrid, called on his team-mates to kick on from their impressive result.
"It's difficult to come here and the game has loads of transitions. We could have had another goal," he told TNT Sports.
"I was close on one in the second half, Jeremy Doku was close a few times but the game was a bit chaotic.
"We can't really control it, which is difficult and it's difficult to come here, so in the end, we're super happy.
"It could have looked completely different today if we didn't win because we lost against Leverkusen, so this win is really important.
"Now we've got two more games left so we need to finish strong now and hopefully we can be in the first eight because then we're through."
22:34 GMT - Here are the Arsenal highlights - including two goals from the impressive Noni Madueke.
22:29 GMT - Arsenal striker Noni Madueke said the club "are in a good moment" and believes they can win both the Premier League and Champions League this season.
"The first goal was really nice, second a tap in but the first one was sweet. Delighted with the result," he told TNT Sports.
"I think the bare minimum I need to give to my team is threat. Obviously trying to score and be as decisive as possible, that's the next level I need to get to in terms of being consistently decisive for club and country. I think I can reach that level.
"We're tight (group of players), that's the main thing. We want each other to do well, we know there are loads of minutes for all of us. It's about all of us as a collective, we know we all have a part to play. That's the good thing about this team.
"We're fighting on all fronts. I feel like we can win this competition and win the league, that has to be the aim. We're in a good place at the moment."
22:24 GMT - Newcastle goalscorer Anthony Gordon lamented his side's late collapse to Leverkusen.
He told TNT Sports: "I don't know (how they let three points slip away) but it's happening too many times, to be honest.
"The first half an hour was really poor but we reacted well and we came out well in the second half. The manager gave us a kick up the backside and we reacted well.
"Defensively we need to be more tight because we are conceding too many goals late in games. I don't know if that is fatigue, but it all comes back to mentality.
"We have to hold out in these games because that is what top teams do."
22:20 GMT - For those who were unable to watch the Newcastle game, including that heartbreaking late equaliser, you can catch up here:
22:15 GMT - Here's how the standings look after all that.

22:13 GMT - Manchester City's Nico O'Reilly put in a player of the match performance, earning an 8.2 Flashscore rating, scoring a goal and completing 91 per cent of his passes (32/25).

22:07 GMT - Arsenal haven't lost a Champions League game in which they've led at half time since March 2017 against Bayern Munich (1-5), winning 14 of their 16 games since.
22:04 GMT - In tonight's other games, Athletic and PSG played out a 0-0 draw, while Benfica beat Napoli 2-0. Dortmund and Bodo/Glimt finished with a 2-2 draw, and Juventus beat Pafos 2-0.
22:02 GMT - Arsenal have won their last six games in the UEFA Champions League, their longest winning streak in the competition (since at least 2004/2005).
22:01 GMT - Real Madrid have lost after scoring the opening goal in the Champions League for the first time since 26th February 2020 against... Manchester City (37 games without defeat).

21:56 GMT - FULL-TIME: There's the final whistle in Madrid, where Erling Haaland's penalty has earned Man City an impressive victory over Real Madrid - who had taken a 1-0 lead early on.

21:54 GMT - FULL-TIME: It's all over in Arsenal's game against Club Brugge, where Mikel Arteta's side have cruised to a 3-0 victory.

21:53 GMT - FULL-TIME: That brings an end to proceedings, and Newcastle will be disappointed to have conceded a late goal to leave Germany with a draw instead of a win against Bayer Leverkusen.

21:47 GMT - GOAL! Bayer Leverkusen have scored to make it 2-2 against Newcastle. Alejandro Grimaldo the man to fire home from close range.
21:35 GMT - GOAL! Newcastle have turned it around! Lewis Miley scores to make it 2-1 to the visitors at Bayer Leverkusen.
Incidentally, only Kylian Mbappé (nine) has been directly involved in more goals than Anthony Gordon (seven: five goals, two assists) in the Champions League this season.
21:17 GMT - GOAL! Gabriel Martinelli fires in another and now Arsenal lead Club Brugge 3-0!
21:12 GMT - GOAL! Newcastle's Anthony Gordon slots a penalty home and that's the leveller against Bayer Leverkusen. Gordon is the second Newcastle player to score five goals in a single Champions League season, after Alan Shearer in 2002-03 (six).
21:11 GMT - GOAL! Noni Madueke has a second against Club Brugge!
21:00 GMT - Can Arsenal hang onto their half-time lead?

20:54 GMT - Newcastle were unlucky to go 1-0 down to an own goal, but narrowly escaped conceding a penalty shortly thereafter.

20:53 GMT - This is only the second time in Real Madrid's history that they have scored first but gone in behind at half-time of a European Cup/Champions League game, after March 1991 vs Spartak Moscow.

20:51 GMT - HALF-TIME: We've reached the halfway mark across all the games.
20:45 GMT - GOAL! Haaland duly slots it home to put Man City 2-1 up against Real Madrid. Impressive turnaround after going 1-0 down.
20:43 GMT - PENALTY! Man City have a penalty after Antonio Rudiger dragged Erling Haaland down in the area. No shock that the Norwegian is the man with the ball under his arm at the spot.
20:42 GMT - In the other games, Bodo/Glimt have just drawn level with Dortmund at 1-1, while Benfica lead Napoli 1-0.
20:36 GMT - GOAL! City are level with Real Madrid already! Nico O'Reilly is the man to make it 1-1 in the Spanish capital after getting onto a rebound. There were some protestations from the Real Madrid bench, led by Kylian Mbappe and Xabi Alonso, for something they believe should have stopped the goal from being given, but VAR has clearly not seen anything to overturn the decision.
20:30 GMT - GOAL! Rodrygo has handed Real Madrid a 1-0 lead against Man City after latching onto a pass from Jude Bellingham and providing a slick finish.
Rodrygo has scored more goals against Man City in all competitions for Real Madrid (five) than any other opposing side. That is also his first goal for Real Madrid in all competitions since March against Atlético de Madrid, also in the Champions League. It ends his run of 32 successive appearances without scoring, in which he had 38 shots.
20:26 GMT - GOAL! Noni Madueke has put Arsenal 1-0 ahead against Club Brugge! He has now scored in successive games in major European competition for the first time in his career.
20:24 GMT - NO PENALTY! A huge sigh of relief for Newcastle fans as the foul was deemed to have occured outside the area, and the resulting free-kick goes sailing harmlessly over. It remains Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 Newcastle.
20:22 GMT - VAR! Things could be about to get a whole lot worse for Newcastle, who may have conceded a penalty after Malick Thiaw brought down Patrik Schick. VAR currently checking to see that the foul occurred inside the area.
20:14 GMT - GOAL! Oh dear, Newcastle are behind, and it's going down as an own goal. Robert Andrich headed the ball across goal and it struck the back of Bruno Guimaraes before heading into the net.
20:00 GMT - And we're off! Dani van den Heuvel is a late replacement for the injured Simon Mignolet in goal for Club Brugge against Arsenal. He's their third choice goalkeeper, having signed from Leeds last year.
19:52 GMT - Over in Madrid, Erling Haaland is making his 50th start in the Champions League. He has 50 goals in his 49 starts to date - already the most ever by a player in his first 50 starts in the competition.
19:45 GMT - Can this man conjure something up on familiar soil and answer a few of his critics?
19:38 GMT - That's it for the early games, where Ajax twice came from behind to beat Qarabag 4-2, while Andreas Cornelius scored the late winner as Copenhagen beat Villarreal 3-2.
19:32 GMT - Can Arsenal get back to winning ways this evening?
19:21 GMT - Big match incoming in the Spanish capital.
18:57 GMT - Mikel Arteta has implemented some rotation for their game against Club Brugge, with six players being swapped out, including Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, and Riccardo Calafiori, who take their places on the bench.

18:53 GMT - Newcastle, meanwhile, have made four changes for their trip to take on Bayer Leverkusen, with Joelinton , Harvey Barnes, Lewis Hall, and Sandro Tonali coming in to start.

18:51 GMT - Team news is in from the Spanish capital and while Man City have named an unchanged lineup to the one that did the business against Sunderland, the big news is that Kylian Mbappe is only fit enough for the bench for Real Madrid.

18:33 GMT - That's half-time in the early games where Copenhagen currently lead Villarreal 1-0, while Ajax have fought back to draw their game with Qarabag level at 1-1.
18:11 GMT - Speaking of Mo Salah earlier, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was the latest to wade in and offer his opinion on the matter.
"He's obviously really upset he's not playing, which I respect," former Liverpool captain Gerrard told TNT Sports.
"A couple of lines about throwing people under the bus, wrong. Need to reverse a little bit away from that, to deal with that with the manager."
17:46 GMT - The early games have kicked off.
17:02 GMT - Back to tonight, Real Madrid's clash with Manchester City is significant, with the pressure mounting on Xabi Alonso's job.
Los Blancos have just two of their last seven games in all competitions and enter the match on the back of a La Liga defeat at home to Celta Vigo at the weekend.

16:32 GMT - Recapping last night, Liverpool escaped Inter Milan with a 1-0 win without Mohamed Salah, who was left at home following his explosive interview against the club.

16:13 GMT - The standout match sees Manchester City travel to the Bernabeu to face Real Madrid, who have seen head coach Xabi Alonso come under fire for a rocky patch of form.
Meanwhile, league phase leaders Arsenal are in Belgium to play Club Brugge and Newcastle are away to Bayer Leverkusen. All of that is from 20:00 GMT.

Tuesday, December 9th
22:57 GMT - That's a wrap for tonight's Champions League action, but join us again tomorrow for more, including Bayer Leverkusen versus Newcastle, Brugge against Arsenal and a juicy one between Real Madrid and Manchester City.
Night!
22:50 GMT - Enzo Maresca says his side "have to do better" after admitting he was concerned about their dip in form.
"I am always worried. Two points in four games is not what we expect and we have to do better," he told UEFA.com.
"After the goal we conceded first one we lost a bit of the control of the game," he said.
"We are playing every two days and we probably look like we struggle a bit.
"We just want to win as soon as possible. We tried to be aggressive, when we conceded 1-1 probably the dynamic of the game changed a bit."
22:48 GMT - Arne Slot was delighted to see Liverpool snatch a late victory, and admiited he expects more questions over the future of Mo Salah.
"We were three points behind Inter and if you want top eight, 15 is the minimum you need," he told Amazon Prime. "The best you can do is win over here. They have a really good team. But overall, a good performance from us.
"The midfield is always helping the defence a lot but there was a lot of commitment from the players. We pressed higher in the second half. We decided to keep a plus one in the back. All 11 players came behind the ball to try and make sure we didn't concede. We got a penalty in the end.
"It should be about what we've done over here. I fully understand that on Friday, in the press conference, all the questions will be about Mo."
22:46 GMT - Tottenham boss Thomas Frank believes his side are in a good position to progress in the Champions League.
"Very happy with the win," Frank told TNT Sports.
"Strong position to progress. Just happy to have four days before Forest now.
"The way Prague play, they will be a threat on transition, and you need to close that down. I liked a lot from our performance, but I also think we can be much better in the future. Be more in control, but we've had four games in not many days."
22:21 GMT - Andrew Robertson said his side needed tonight's victory against Inter.
"(It was a) huge result," he told Amazon Prime.
"We knew we were coming to a tough place, to a team that's in a good moment. We had to show fight and dig in. The clean sheet was crucial and then we go and scored the goal.
"We all needed it. We know the results and performances aren't good enough. It's important this club is in the Champions League. It was a huge result for all of us."
22:12 GMT - Xavi Simons impressed yet again tonight for Tottenham, scoring his second goal in as many games.
"Really happy to win another game at home with the fans," he told TNT Sports. "We have to continue, really happy.
"It's always a pleasure for me playing Champions League, I'm enjoying my dreams. Really happy to be here."
"It's a team that play man-to-man and you have to look for space and create chances. First half we had those chances but didn't score, luckily we had two goals in the second half."
22:08 GMT - This was Liverpool's sixth Champions League match that has been goalless at half-time under Arne Slot. They've gone on to win each of them without conceding a single goal (10 scored).
22:07 GMT - Chelsea have lost after scoring the opening goal in the UEFA Champions League for the first time since April 2014 against Atletico Madrid (44 games without defeat).

"Cole is in part of his process in this moment. He's not available, he can't play two games in a row in three days," Maresca said.
"So we planned that, and it's just a way to protect him."

16:03 GMT - Arne Slot insisted that his relationship with Mohamed Salah has not broken down even after dropping the star attacker from Liverpool's trip to face Inter Milan in the Champions League.
"That's not the way I feel, but he has the right to feel how he feels. I haven't felt that at all," said Liverpool coach Slot during his press conference on Monday.
The Egyptian winger was not taken to Italy despite training earlier in the day with the first team, after saying he felt like he had been "thrown under the bus" by the club and no longer had a relationship with Slot.
