22:30 GMT - You can watch highlights of Liverpool and Tottenham's wins below.

22:11 GMT - Liverpool match-winner Alexis Mac Allister said their victory over Real Madrid "doesn't mean anything".

Speaking to Amazon Prime, he said: "I think it was a good game against a really good team. A win, but we know it doesn't mean anything - the experience last season, we finished first and then after that we were out quite early."

Alexis Mac Allister scored the game's only goal, completing 32/35 (91 per cent) of his passes and picking up a Flashscore rating of 7.9.

On being frustrated by a formidable Thibaut Courtois in the Real Madrid goal, he added: "He is a fantastic keeper. We all know. He had a few saves, so again I think he is a really good keeper, but today I think we were better and deserved to win."

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk added: "There was a lot of energy and lot of hard work in the performance tonight. They won 14 of the last 15, have a lot of quality.

"We know their strengths, how they can punish you. We've seen that in the last few weeks. We had to be spot on in everything we do.

"Sometimes you come in a low block and that is something we had to accept. I thought we perform our game plan perfectly."

22:09 GMT - Tottenham goalscorer Micky van de Ven told TNT Sports: "That is for sure what we needed after a tough one at the weekend, we needed to bounce back and we did."

Scoring his incredible solo goal, he said: "I started dribbling and thought I thought that I would see if they would catch up and they didn't. I am feeling good, and I felt amazing in the sprint, I felt like I could keep going.

"When we got the red card I thought it was going to be tough but we stayed cool, we did what we needed to do and we killed the game off. Now we recover and focus on the game on Saturday."

Xavi Simons added: "We are happy with the three points and happy with the performance.

"People want to perform and play good, I came in a new situation that has never happened to me before. I just have to keep working, I know my players have my back, so I will keep working hard.

"I am a guy who will never let my guard down and I will keep working and going forward. (There are) big games coming up, I think we have to enjoy this win tonight and tomorrow we go back and focus on Manchester United."
