Several teams still have plenty of work to do to keep their campaigns alive, particularly the Premier League representatives.

Arsenal are the only English side not chasing a deficit heading into the return legs, while Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham all face the challenge of overturning first-leg setbacks.

With knockout football often producing dramatic swings in momentum, the stage is set for another thrilling set of European nights. Below are betting predictions for each round of 16 fixture in the Champions League.

Sporting v Bodo/Glimt, Tuesday, 17:45 GMT

Sporting return to Lisbon facing a huge challenge after losing the first leg by three goals in Norway. The Portuguese side will be desperate to avoid becoming just the third club from their country to be knocked out of Europe by Norwegian opposition.

Despite the difficult position, Sporting have historically been strong against teams from Norway at home, winning all three previous meetings while keeping clean sheets in each. They also famously overturned a three-goal deficit against Manchester United in the 1963/64 Cup Winners’ Cup.

Bodo/Glimt arrive in outstanding form though, having won their last five Champions League matches. With Sporting forced to attack and the visitors boasting dangerous forwards like Jens Petter Hauge and Kasper Høgh, both teams scoring looks a strong possibility.

Tip: Both teams to score @ 53/100 with Bet365

Bet explanation: This bet wins if both Sporting and Bodo/Glimt score at least one goal each.

Arsenal v Bayer Leverkusen, Tuesday, 20:00 GMT

Arsenal head into the second leg with the tie finely balanced after avoiding defeat away to Bayer Leverkusen. Historically, the Gunners have been extremely reliable in these situations, progressing from 17 of their last 20 European knockout ties after avoiding defeat in the first leg away from home.

The Emirates has also become a difficult venue for visiting sides in the Champions League under Mikel Arteta. Arsenal have won 13 of their 16 home matches in the competition during his tenure, with only Paris Saint-Germain managing a victory there.

Leverkusen have proven capable of troubling English teams this season, but Arsenal’s strong home record and balanced squad should give them the edge. With the Gunners usually controlling games in north London, backing a home win looks justified.

Tip: Arsenal to win @ 3/10 with Bet365

Bet explanation: This bet wins if Arsenal beat Bayer Leverkusen.

Chelsea v Paris Saint-Germain, Tuesday, 20:00 BST

Chelsea v PSG

Chelsea face a daunting task after losing the first leg 5-2 against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain. Only once in Champions League history has a team eliminated the holders after losing the first leg by three goals.

The Blues have struggled in recent knockout matches and have lost their last three games at this stage of the competition. However, Stamford Bridge has often been the scene of memorable European nights and Chelsea will still believe they can cause problems.

PSG’s attack has been devastating this season, with 13 different goalscorers already in the competition. With Chelsea needing to push forward to chase the tie and the French champions possessing incredible attacking quality, goals at both ends look very likely.

Tip: Both teams to score @ 11/25 with Bet365

Bet explanation: This bet wins if both Chelsea and PSG score at least one goal.

Manchester City v Real Madrid, Tuesday, 20:00 GMT

Manchester City face an enormous task after losing the first leg 3-0 against Real Madrid. The Spanish giants have never been eliminated in European competition after winning the first leg of a knockout tie by three goals or more.

Pep Guardiola’s side will at least take confidence from their strength at the Etihad Stadium, where they regularly dominate possession and create large numbers of chances.

Even though progressing looks unlikely, City’s attacking approach should still produce goals. With players like Erling Haaland leading the line and the need to chase the game, the hosts scoring multiple times is a realistic outcome.

Tip: Manchester City to score 2+ goals @11/25 with Bet365

Bet explanation: This bet wins if Manchester City score at least two goals against Real Madrid.

Barcelona v Newcastle, Wednesday, 17:45 GMT

Barcelona v Newcastle

Barcelona welcome Newcastle to Camp Nou with the tie level after a 1-1 draw in the first leg at St James’ Park. Historically, this has been a favourable situation for the Catalan club, who have progressed from their last ten Champions League knockout ties after drawing the first leg away.

The Spanish side have also been prolific at home in the competition, scoring in each of their last 16 matches and averaging more than three goals per game across that run.

Newcastle have impressed in Europe this season, but Barcelona’s attacking quality at home should prove decisive. With Lamine Yamal consistently involved in goals in Champions League matches at Camp Nou, backing him to make another key contribution looks appealing.

Tip: Lamine Yamal to score or assist @ 3/5 with Bet365

Bet explanation: This bet wins if Lamine Yamal scores or provides an assist.

Bayern Munich v Atalanta, Wednesday, 20:00 GMT

Bayern v Atalanta

Bayern Munich return to the Allianz Arena in a commanding position after their dominant 6-1 win in the first leg. No team has ever overturned a five-goal deficit in a European knockout tie, leaving Atalanta with little realistic hope of progression.

The German giants have been one of the most dangerous attacking teams in the competition this season, scoring 28 goals in just nine matches.

Given Bayern’s attacking strength and Atalanta’s need to show some response after the heavy defeat, another high-scoring match could be on the cards. With Bayern regularly producing goals at home, backing over 2.5 goals looks a logical bet.

Tip: Over 2.5 goals @ 33/100 with Bet365

Bet explanation: This bet wins if there are at least three goals in the match.

Liverpool v Galatasaray, Wednesday, 20:00 GMT

Liverpool v Galatasaray

Liverpool must produce another famous European comeback after losing the first leg against Galatasaray. The Reds have overturned deficits before in the Champions League, most memorably against Barcelona in 2019.

Anfield has long been one of the most intimidating venues in European football and Liverpool will rely on the atmosphere to inspire a strong performance.

Galatasaray have already beaten Liverpool twice this season but their away record in the Champions League remains poor. With the Reds likely to attack aggressively from the start, a home win looks the most likely outcome.

Tip: Liverpool to win @ 1/4 with Bet365

Bet explanation: This bet wins if Liverpool beat Galatasaray in regular time.

Tottenham v Atletico Madrid, Wednesday, 20:00 GMT

Tottenham v Atlético
Tottenham v AtléticoProfimedia / Flashscore

Tottenham face a major challenge after Atletico Madrid raced into a three-goal lead inside the opening 15 minutes of the first leg. Spurs will need a huge turnaround to keep their Champions League campaign alive.

Despite the deficit, Tottenham have been excellent at home in this season’s competition, winning all four matches while keeping clean sheets in each.

Atletico’s attacking form has also been impressive, having scored 29 goals in the tournament already. With Spurs needing to push forward and the Spanish side dangerous on the counterattack, both teams scoring looks a strong possibility.

Tip: Both teams to score @ 61/100 with Bet365

Bet explanation: This bet wins if both Tottenham and Atletico Madrid score at least one goal.
