Federico Chiesa has turned down lucrative offers from Serie A and Turkish clubs to remain at Liverpool despite missing out on a place in their Champions League squad.
Chiesa, 27, is understood to have had offers from Italy and Turkey throughout the summer transfer window but decided to remain at Liverpool.
The winger has since been left out of Arne Slot’s squad for the Champions League league phase, with Rio Ngumoha, who is ten years his junior, picked instead.
According to Gazetta dello Sport, he opted to remain at Anfield despite all of that because he feared potential failure back in the Serie A.
The report added that he believes playing with and competing against top players will give him the best chance of playing in next year’s World Cup.
