Bayern Munich increased their winning run to start the 2025/26 campaign to a German record 12 matches after beating Club Brugge 4-0 at the Allianz Arena, their 34th victory of a remarkable 36-match unbeaten home run in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) group stage/league phase.

With a 100% record in all competitions to start the season, Bayern were always likely to be unstoppable for travelling Club Brugge, but the Blauw-Zwart were still caught by surprise by the opener.

Starting in Europe for the first time, 17-year-old Lennart Karl tricked his way through midfield and burst to the edge of the area, before superbly curling his shot over Nordin Jackers.

Aleksandar Pavlovic then struck the post from a similar position, but Bayern’s second was much simpler, with Konrad Laimer venturing to the byline and pulling across goal for Harry Kane, who was unchecked in tapping in at the far post.

There was a relative lull in proceedings after that breathless first 15 minutes, but another mazy run from Karl – which ended with his effort bouncing just wide of the near post – set Bayern back on course.

Just after the half-hour mark, Laimer exchanged passes on the left with Luis Diaz, who entered the box and unleashed a rocket over Jackers and in off the underside of the bar.

Nicky Hayen hoped to reinvigorate his side with changes at the break, but it remained all Bayern. At least Kane looked to have left his shooting boots in the dressing room, as the England captain missed three chances, including when Jorne Spileers intervened to stop him from finding another open goal.

Spileers was soon there again to stop Díaz’s shot on the line, but the visitors could do nothing about Nicolas Jackson following in on the rebound for his second in as many UCL appearances for Bayern.

Bayern remained in control until the final whistle, and Vincent Kompany will have been satisfied with just a fifth clean sheet in the 17 UCL matches he has taken charge of for the club.

A second UCL defeat on the bounce for Club Brugge sees their woeful record against German sides deteriorate further to just one win in 13 such outings. Bayern rejoin the host of teams with a perfect UCL record at the top of the league standings, and will hope they can build on their Der Klassiker victory at the weekend and keep their winning run going on all fronts.
