Liverpool manager Arne Slot has spoken to the press ahead of this week's Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.

Liverpool became the first-ever Premier League team to earn four straight triumphs thanks to winning goals in the final 10 minutes as they continued their perfect start to the campaign. Now, they must face Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in what could be their toughest test yet.

Isak likely to feature against Atletico

Slot first revealed that striker Alexander Isak has a high chance of making an appearance tomorrow, but 90 minutes may be a push.

"Definitely a chance because he's in the squad and the chance to play, I would usually say 99.9 per cent sure, but I can say 100 per cent sure he will not play 90 minutes, but he's part of the squad.

"It's already a Champions League game to look forward to, but if people look forward to his playing time, that could mean that could happen tomorrow as well.

"The only thing we're sure of is he will not play 90."

Liverpool playing above Slot's expectations so far

The Dutch tactician next moved on to fighting for every competition this season and admitted that after mass changes to his squad, he had been very impressed by his side's performances so far.

"We are far above my expectations during the summer. We all know what happened this summer and for us to be on 12 points from these fixtures is so much more than I expected, especially after so many changes in our group.

"I think we can do better but we're not every time going to face Newcastle away and Arsenal at home."

Slot praises Simeone and admits Atletico will be a tough affair

The former Feyenoord boss recalled his time with the Dutch side and how being at Liverpool means a Champions League game is not as big of a step up in quality.

"When I was at Feyenoord in the Eredivisie, we knew when you went from a Sunday to a Wednesday you had to make two steps up unless you played Ajax or PSV on the weekend.

"But in the Premier League, it is the same quality or a little step up so again, a very difficult one because Atletico Madrid have done so well in La Liga. So many years with Diego Simeone and even able to win the league twice when you face Real Madrid and Barcelona.

"Again a team that is a difficult one to play against because of their mentality, team performance and quality."

Why are Liverpool always winning games in the final minutes?

Questions then turned to his side's habit of winning games late on which has become a very common occurrence as Slot's side display their relentless mentality until the very last minute.

"Yes, everybody's very focused on us winning the games late on. But that, again, has a lot to do with the teams we've faced as well.

"Of course it has a bit to do with how fit we are, that we can always keep going and make a difference in the last part of the game.

"But if you face maybe teams that are not as strong you can win the game a little earlier, so it maybe tells you how difficult our schedule has been in the first few games.

"And then people will say, "What are you talking about? You played Burnley as well but last season this team only conceded 14 goals in the whole season."

Robertson vs Kerkez

Finally, Slot spoke on veteran defender Andrew Robertson and his impact on the side after replacing Milos Kerkez who was hooked against Burnley at the weekend.

"Brilliantly well? I think he played well (against Burnley). Milos started the game not brilliantly well but well, and we had to take him off.

"Then you had Andy Robertson to replace him and he came in like he'd never been doing anything else.

"It was a difficult game for us and I don't think anybody played brilliantly well but it's good for us to have him in the squad."
