The UEFA Champions League returns to our screens in midweek, with the Last 16 second legs played on Tuesday and Wednesday.

With each of the eight ties broadcast live on television, it's an exciting time for armchair fans, bettors, and lovers of the beautiful game. On this page, we focus on Tottenham vs Atletico Madrid in the UK capital on Wednesday.

Of the eight UCL matches included in the midweek schedule, there are three or more goals between the teams in five games. Spurs vs Atletico is included in that list, with the Spanish La Liga giants arriving in London with a 5-2 aggregate lead.

Followers enjoyed seven goals in Madrid, and we're hoping for more of the same here as Spurs attempt an epic fightback.

Tottenham need to beat the visitors by three goals just to force this one into extra time. Victory by four or more goals would send the Premier League side through.

Atletico are sitting pretty, but will they keep their foot on the gas or aim to protect what they have? Continue reading as football betting expert Frank Monkhouse offers his preview and predictions.

Match winner - Atletico Madrid

Our first pick in London on Wednesday evening is on the away win. Tottenham's season is in real danger of spiralling out of control. The locals sit dangerously close to the Premier League relegation zone, and their UCL future is hanging by a thread. Now led by manager Igor Tudor, Spurs have lost five and drawn one of their last six in the Premier League.

Atletico Madrid blew Tottenham away in the first leg. The Spaniards scored inside six minutes, and were 4-1 ahead by the break.

The victors scored another in the second half, but passed up opportunities to further extend their lead. Will a 5-2 aggregate lead be enough to see them through? It should be, but an away win would ensure they progress in style.

Atletico Madrid are third in La Liga, but are well out of the title race. Despite winning each of their previous four league starts, Madrid trail current leaders Barcelona by 13 points.

That means Madrid can focus on this tournament. They beat Getafe 1-0 on Saturday, thanks to an early goal from Molina. Add an away win for Madrid to your midweek accumulators.

Tip: Atletico Madrid win @ 31/20 (bet365)

Bet explanation: If Madrid beat Spurs, you'll secure a profit.

Total goals - over 2.5

We move into the totals market for our second bet, taking Tottenham vs Atletico Madrid to produce three or more goals. With this approach, you're not concerned with the final score, which team goes through or who finds the net. As long as the night ends with more than two goals scored by both teams combined, you'll celebrate a strong bet and a useful profit.

As we know, a bet on over 2.5 goals landed when Tottenham and Atletico Madrid last crossed paths. Interestingly, you would've been counting your profits after just 15 minutes of the first leg.

Madrid raced into a 4-0 lead on 22 minutes, with five goals in the opening half. A repeat is unlikely, but remains possible. All you need is three goals in 90 minutes of play.

Did you know that Tottenham and Atletico Madrid have met only twice before in competitive action? Both were high-scoring affairs, with Spurs winning 5-1 in the European Cup Winners' Cup back in 1963.

In more recent times, a bet on over 2.5 goals landed in Tottenham's previous home match, when losing 3-1 to Crystal Palace. Bet on another goalfest here.

Tip: Over 2.5 goals @ 8/11 (bet365)

Bet explanation: You need Tottenham vs Atletico Madrid to produce two or more goals.

Score or assist - Griezmann

Looking for a Champions League bet at higher odds in London? We've got you covered with an interest in Antoine Griezmann to score or assist on Wednesday.

The experienced Frenchman's future is unclear, with reports suggesting he could be off to MLS in the summer. At 34 years old, that makes sense, but he still has plenty to offer in a World Cup year.

Griezmann scored to put his team 2-0 up when Tottenham were in Spain eight days ago. He also provided an assist for Alvarez's goal early in the second half.

The Madrid number seven last scored away from home in a 5-0 win over Real Betis in the Copa del Rey last month. The attacker remains fast, direct, and ambitious. Backers will surely enjoy a run for their stake.

When following this suggestion and backing Griezmann, you need him to score or assist a teammate in scoring. Finding the net with a wonder strike inside five minutes of play pays the same as Antoine setting up a Madrid player for a tap-in with seconds remaining on the clock.

Given he scored and assisted last week, we have good reason to be confident.

Tip: Griezmann score or assist @ 11/8 (bet365)

Bet explanation: You want to see Griezmann score or assist in London on Wednesday.
