Championship round-up: Leicester extend run, Leeds pick up win

Leicester extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches with an emphatic 4-1 win against Huddersfield, while Leeds picked up three points against Wayne Rooney's Birmingham.

There were also wins for Sunderland, Swansea and Coventry who boosted their hopes of a play-off finish.

Ipswich were unable to break down the 10-men of Stoke, while Southampton missed the chance to move within a point of the top two.

Sunderland 2-0 Preston

Michael Beale secured his first home win as Sunderland head coach following a 2-0 victory over Preston North End, sending the Black Cats above Hull City and into the Championship play-off spots, until Monday evening at least.

Daniel Farke’s Leeds United side extended their unbeaten home record to 13 matches for the EFL Championship season with a solid 3-0 victory over strugglers Birmingham City  at Elland Road.

Leicester City tightened their grip on the Championship top spot going ten points clear of second-placed Ipswich Town, as they defeated Huddersfield Town 4-1 at the King Power Stadium, extending their winning home run to five matches in the process.

Coventry City produced a sublime second-half display to defeat Middlesbrough 3-1 at the Riverside Stadium, as Mark Robins’ men moved to within three points of the play-offs by extending their unbeaten run to seven matches.
