Flashscore's Championship round-up is back after two sets of fixtures over the last week, with several talking points to discuss after the latest action.

Norwich have pushed out of the relegation zone after back-to-back victories, while all of the top three secured maximum points from their last two matches.

Elsewhere, West Brom are in danger of slipping into a fight to avoid the drop, and Hull have cemented themselves as play-off contenders.

Here, Flashscore take a look at all the major talking points in our Championship round-up.

Top three a cut above the rest

The top three in the Championship currently consist of Coventry, Middlesbrough and Ipswich - with all three clubs winning their last two matches.

The Sky Blues have topped the division for the entire season and, despite a recent blip, are now back to form after beating both Leicester and Millwall by 2-1.

Middlesbrough are pushing them close behind in second and are on a run of three wins on the bounce.

Kim Hellberg's side enjoyed triumphs over West Brom (3-2) and Stoke (2-1) in the last week and have proved they can edge out those narrow wins necessary to challenge for promotion - an invaluable quality for a team in their current position.

Perhaps the most impressive performers of the last month, though, have been Ipswich.

The Tractor Boys have won their last four games - including beating league leaders Coventry - and have scored nine while conceding just once in that period.

Their squad is undoubtedly one of the strongest in the division and features a wealth of attacking talent, which is a huge advantage for manager Kieran McKenna to lean on.

Jack Clarke has proven time and again that he is one of the Championship's best players and netted both goals in the most recent win against Bristol City, taking his total to 10 for the league season.

His form will be crucial for Ipswich to break back into the top two - something they can do if they win their game in hand on Middlesbrough.

Norwich continue survival charge

Norwich endured a tough first half of the campaign, but things have picked up under new manager Philippe Clement.

The Canaries have lost just four games since his appointment in mid-November and are on a run of five wins in their last eight Championship matches.

The most recent two came first with a 2-1 victory away at high-flying Wrexham and then with a 5-0 thrashing of fellow strugglers West Brom.

Maximum points from those fixtures saw Norwich rise out of the relegation zone and into 20th spot.

At the forefront of their revival has been English youngster Jovon Makama, who has netted 13 goals in all competitions this season, aged just 21.

The forward has been one of the bright sparks in Norwich's disappointing campaign and is doing a superb job of filling the void left by Josh Sargent, who has been pushing to return to the MLS in the January transfer window.

A quick word on West Brom, too, who were on the wrong side of the 5-0 thrashing during the week.

Their season has quickly spiralled downwards, and the Baggies are just three points above the relegation zone.

They intended to address the slump by sacking Ryan Mason and replacing him with Eric Ramsay, but the new manager has so far overseen two defeats from his two Championship games.

Things need to turn around quickly for West Brom, who are at risk of being dragged down into the bottom three.

Red cards galore

There were several red cards over the last week of Championship action.

Preston had Milutin Osamjic shown a straight red for a headbutt in his side's loss to Hull, while Bosun Lawal was dismissed in Stoke's defeat to Middlesbrough, and Matt Clarke saw two yellows as his Derby team beat Charlton.

Perhaps the biggest talking point, though, was Sheffield United going down to nine men in their 1-0 loss, also against Charlton earlier in the week.

Djibril Soumare was first sent down the tunnel for a studs-up tackle after 35 minutes, and Japhet Tanganga followed shortly after for an elbow when contending an aerial duel.

Charlton took full advantage just one minute into the second half and secured victory through Sonny Carey's sixth of the season.

Just to circle back to Osmajic, the striker now faces his third major disciplinary issue in Preston colours.

The Montenegro international was handed an eight-game suspension in 2024 for biting an opponent, and a nine-game ban last year for racially abusing Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.

His future will surely now be up in the air, with some fans losing patience over the player's appalling conduct over the last 18 months.

McBurnie fires Hull to fourth

Oli McBurnie is our Goal of the Week winner for the last round of Championship fixtures, netting a superb bicycle kick in Hull's 3-0 win at Preston.

A special mention also needs to go to West Brom's Isaac Price, who converted a well-worked free-kick in the Baggies' loss to Middlesbrough last weekend.

Browne stars for Middlesbrough

Alan Browne played a starring role in Middlesbrough's 2-1 win away at Stoke during the week, getting a goal and an assist against the Potters.

His performance earned a 9.1 Flashscore rating, the highest of any player over the last two sets of fixtures - making him our Player of the Week.
