Birmingham laid out their promotion credentials with a dominant 3-0 win over QPR, while West Ham went away to table-toppers Swansea and came away with a 1-0 victory.
Elsewhere, West Brom came from two goals down to beat Blackburn 3-2, and Watford stopped their awful run of form with a 2-0 triumph over Charlton.
Here, Flashscore takes a look at some of the major talking points from the latest Championship action.
Birmingham make top two push
Birmingham started the season slowly in terms of results and had won just one league game up until the seventh round of fixtures.
They had also lost just once in that time - with a host of draws suggesting they were teetering between exploding into form or facing a downturn in results.
Chris Davies' side have clearly found the right formula, with the Blues now unbeaten in over a month, winning four of their last five games.
Their latest triumph came against an impressive QPR side. Birmingham took what was expected to be a tight game between two good teams and dominated completely, with Liam Millar netting twice before a late strike from Demarai Gray sealed victory.

Defensive duo Christoph Klarer and Phil Neumann continued to prove themselves as one of the best partnerships in the league with superb performances, while midfield star Tomoki Iwata looked back to his best with two assists in a top creative showing.
Birmingham are building momentum at a good time in the campaign and are enjoying the benefits of deadline-day signing Millar - who now has four goals and three assists in seven appearances.
The Canadian seems to have sparked new life into their attack and his fitness will be key in the coming winter months. Fellow forwards Jay Stansfield and Patrick Roberts also represent top quality options for the Championship in a squad that is looking increasingly likely to cement themselves, at the very least, in the play-off places.
West Ham win at Swansea
Swansea have been the surprise team in the 2026/27 Championship campaign so far, rising all the way to the top of the league after an impressive transfer window and a string of brilliant performances.
Their clash with promotion favourites West Ham therefore made for essential viewing in the second tier - with the Hammers coming out on top in a narrow 1-0 win.
Divine Mukasa grabbed the only goal of the game to move his team within one point of the league leaders, also taking their overall Championship goal tally to 30 in 11 fixtures this season.
That's the highest of any team in the division by some margin. For what it's worth, Swansea also have the best defensive record having only conceded eight goals - making for an incredibly tight game between two of the league's best teams.

West Ham were forced to win in a different fashion to what they have been used to so far, conceding 69 per cent possession to their hosts.
Nuno Espirito Santo's side still made the most of their chance when it came, though, with Mukasa getting on the end of a cut-back from Mohamadou Kante and firing into the net.
Their defence stood firm to ensure they took three points back to London despite not being at their best - the exact sort of result a promotion contender needs to get every once in a while.
Watford snap out of losing run
Watford have been on a poor run of form, losing their last four matches before the clash against Charlton and conceding nine goals in their previous two fixtures.
The Hornets switched systems against the Addicks, deploying a five-at-the-back formation with a strike partnership of Myron Boadu and Luca Kjerrumgaard.
The change was richly rewarded, with Alessio Dionisi's side creating plenty of chances, registering 22 total shots with 10 of those on target and an expected goals (xG) of 2.85.
Some defensive worries remain with a Charlton team often weak going forward managing 23 touches in the Watford box along with two big chances created - but a first clean sheet since August will give the Hornets a much-needed confidence boost.
Their upcoming fixtures are tricky but not impossible, with visits to out-of-form teams Wolves and Norwich followed by a home game against newly-promoted Lincoln.
Watford need to use those games to try to build some resilience ahead of what will likely be a tough winter period - but if they can come through in good shape, there's a good chance they can mount a push away from the relegation zone.
Coubis strikes for Lincoln
Lincoln drew 2-2 away at Millwall, with defender Andrei Coubis netting a superb strike in the opening minute of the match.
The Romanian drilled a low effort from just outside the corner of the box, with his powerful strike flying into the far corner.
Coubis' effort stood out across the weekend as one of the better efforts in the Championship - winning our Goal of the Week.
Whiteman hits back against former club
This week's Championship Player of the Week is Wrexham midfielder Ben Whiteman, who excelled with a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win against his former club Preston.
The Englishman led the match in every playmaking metric with three key passes, four passes into the box, 18 passes in the final third, three crosses and two layoffs to earn a 9.1 Flashscore rating.
That was the highest rating across the latest Championship fixtures - take a look at our full Team of the Week:
