It's matchday two in the English Championship with a bumper ten-game programme on Saturday. Swansea enjoy home advantage when welcoming Sheffield United to the second-largest city in Wales. The Swans opened with a narrow defeat at the Riverside Stadium on matchday one and will be eager to bounce back.

Sheffield United did the double over their hosts last season, including a narrow win at this venue in January. Having watched their side suffer a painful 4-1 home defeat to Bristol City at Bramall Lane, the visiting support demands an instant reaction. Will they get it?

Flashscore has all the information you need to make well-informed picks on Swansea vs Sheff United, including the head-to-head stats, recent form, injury news, league standings and more. On this page, betting writer Frank Monkhouse dissects the numbers and offers his pre-match preview and predictions.

Swans struggled last time

Swansea finished in mid-table last season, posting an 11th-place finish. Everyone connected to the club knew they underperformed by the club's high standards, and entered this campaign determined to do better. Fans want to see Alan Sheehan's team fighting for the prize places and pushing hard for a spot in the promotion playoffs. A winning start would've set the pace for the campaign ahead, but Middlesbrough beat Swansea on matchday one, ensuring they're already playing catch-up.

A goal scored by Dael Fry early in the second half was enough to ensure Boro made a winning start. The Swans finished with 46.4% of the ball possession, but managed just three shots at goal and only one on target. On reflection, Swansea were outmuscled and outfought by an opponent that wanted the points more, and that can't happen again. Nothing is decided on matchday one, but the Swansea squad must show they have the stomach for a fight, and a win here would be the best way to respond.

Despite losing to Boro, Swansea set up on the back of a win after beating Crawley Town 3-1 on Tuesday in the League Cup first round. It was a commanding performance from start to finish, with Swansea taking the lead inside four minutes and scoring their final goal in stoppage time near the end of play. That suggests they've learned the harsh lessons of last weekend. I expect Swansea to be fitter, sharper and more organised than last week. In a well-matched contest, I'm picking under 2.5 goals in the game.

Tip: Under 2.5 goals @ 8/11 (bet365)

Bet explanation: If the game produces fewer than three goals for both teams combined, your bet wins.

Stats show Blades will be too sharp

Like their hosts, Sheffield United suffered a false start to the 2025/26 English Championship season. The Blades opened with a home match against Bristol City at Bramall Lane. Ruben Selles watched his team suffer a heavy defeat on their patch when battered by The Robins. They were many people's picks to secure three points at the first time of asking, but Sheff Utd ended with a painful 4-1 loss with almost 30,000 fans in attendance. Tyreese Campbell scored on 14 minutes, but it wasn't enough to save his team from a painful afternoon.

That loss to Bristol City last Saturday was the heaviest defeat of the week, meaning Sheffield United start matchday two rock-bottom of the division. It's far too early to panic, of course, and I don't believe the club will be in the relegation zone at the final count, but everyone in the away dressing room understands the pressure will build the longer it takes to get off the mark. A win on Saturday would help settle the nerves and get their season moving.

Can Sheffield United bounce back and move their record to one win and a defeat? I believe so, and the head-to-head stats support that approach. Sheff Utd beat Swansea home and away last term, including a 2-1 at this venue in January. Going back further, we see the visitors haven't lost this fixture since January 2019, a run of six games and three seasons. With that in mind, an away win makes perfect sense at decent odds.

Tip: Sheff Utd win @ 27/20 (bet365)

Bet explanation: You need Sheffield United to win by any scoreline.

Back Campbell to score again

Our third and final bet at Swansea.com Stadium is for visiting striker Tyreese Campbell to get back amongst the goals. He scored his team's only goal in that heavy home defeat to Bristol City last weekend, and will be trusted to lead the charge again here. Campbell is an experienced striker and a real favourite of the travelling support. He'll be their main dangerman this term, tasked with firing the club to glory.

In addition to his goal last weekend, Campbell finished last season with his employer's only goal in a narrow defeat to Sunderland. With the away team knowing they must respond to that loss on matchday one, Sheff Utd will go on the attack early. They'll aim to work hard in possession and release Campbell on the break. He netted a powerful left-foot drive against the Robins following a slick passing move. More of the same would do us nicely.

When following this prediction and backing Campbell in the anytime scorer market, it doesn't matter how he scores or when the goal arrives. If he breaks the deadlock inside the opening 60 seconds or taps home with the last kick of the ball, it means the same for you - a profit. Back Campbell to score, and your bet is live for the entire time he's on the field.

Tip: Campbell to score @ 21/10 (bet365)

Bet explanation: If Tyreese Campbell scores in this match, your bet pays.
