Defending champions Newcastle face League One side Bradford in the third round of the Carabao Cup after the draw was made on Wednesday.

Grimsby Town's reward for beating Man Utd in a thrilling round two clash is a tie against Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool, who were beaten in last season's final, were drawn at home to Southampton, while Arsenal travel to Port Vale and Huddersfield take on Man City.

Lincoln City face Chelsea and Crystal Palace host Millwall in a south London derby.

Elsewhere Brentford welcome Aston Villa and Wolves host Everton in the two all-Premier League ties.

The Carabao Cup third round will take place over two weekends in September, with the first set of games scheduled for the week commencing 15th, with teams involved in the Champions League and Europa League set to compete week commencing 22nd.

To celebrate past winners, each team to have won the tournament will wear a special sleave patch this season to denote the number of times they have won the competition.

Liverpool hold the record for the most wins in the competition with nine.

Teams involved in European competitions were seeded and could not be drawn against each other.

Crystal Palace were not involved in the seeding because the Conference League gets underway in October.
