17:24 BST - Nottingham Forest's new boss knows what it takes to win the Europa League.

Ange Postecoglou, appointed by Forest earlier this month, steered Tottenham to a rare trophy last term as they beat Manchester United in the final.

He is searching for his first win at Forest following two defeats, including an early League Cup exit, and Saturday's 1-1 draw at Burnley.

17:17 BST - Also on the cards is the first round proper of the Europa League, with British interest in Nottingham Forest's return to European football with a clash against La Liga outfit Real Betis, and Celtic taking on Red Star Belgrade

Those both kick off at 20:00 BST - you can follow all the Europa League matches here.

17:13 BST - First up, we have the last of the EFL Cup third round action as last week's Champions League participants begin their quests for a Wembley date early next year.

Then, Arsenal travel to Port Vale, with the kick-off scheduled for 20:00 BST.

21:57 BST - We're going to wrap up the Football Tracker for tonight, but before we do, here's our round-up from all the action in this evening's EFL Cup third round fixtures:

EFL Cup round-up: Chelsea beat Lincoln as Isak scores first Liverpool goal

Night!

21:53 BST - FULL-TIME! Liverpool reach the next round with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Championship side Southampton.

21:44 BST - FULL-TIME! Liverpool are still going, Burnley are beaten, but it's a good night in the end for Chelsea, Brighton, Wolves and Wrexham in particular.

Barnsley 0-6 Brighton

Burnley 1-2 Cardiff

Fulham 1-0 Cambridge United

Lincoln City 1-2 Chelsea

Wigan 0-2 Wycombe

Wolves 2-0 Everton

Wrexham 2-0 Reading

Liverpool 2-1 Southampton (latest)

21:42 BST - GOAL! Liverpool restore their lead late in the day yet again.

Some nice play from Federico Chiesa, who takes the ball in his stride before laying off Hugo Ekitike, who slots home into a near-empty net.

However, he's received a second yellow for taking his shirt off during the celebration, so it's a red card for the goalscorer!

21:34 BST - GOAL! Endo makes a hash of his clearance from a corner, allowing Southampton to level at Anfield through Shea Charles.

Brighton have a sixth against Barnsley through Yasin Ayari just before full-time.

21:31 BST - GOAL! Brighton are running riot at Oakwell, with 17-year-old Harry Howell getting on the scoresheet.

21:29 BST - GOAL! Wolves have made it 2-0 against Everton after a rapid breakaway from Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare, and despite long spells of pressure from the Toffees.

21:17 BST - GOAL! Nathan Broadhead scores again against Reading and looks to have secured Wrexham's place in the fourth round draw.

21:12 BST - GOAL! Diego Gomez bags a fourth for himself and Brighton as they're running riot against Barnsley.

Elsewhere, Wycombe have doubled their tally at Wigan.

21:10 BST - GOAL! Fulham finally find a deserved breakthrough as Emile Smith Rowe side-foots a well-placed low cross to put the Cottagers in front.

Liverpool are out for the second half against Southampton, and Isak has been substituted for Hugo Ekitike.

21:03 BST - GOAL! Nathan Broadhead puts Wrexham ahead at home to Reading.

Meanwhile, Burnley have pulled a goal back against Cardiff through Zian Flemming.

20:54 BST - GOAL! Maresca must have lit some fire under his players at half-time. Facundo Buonanotte slots home a quick second to turn the tie on its head.

20:53 BST - GOAL! Chelsea come out firing early in the second half, and it ends with a fine finish, some 20 yards out from Tyrique George. It's all square.

20:44 BST - GOAL! After just escaping a big chance for Southampton at the other end, Alexander Isak gets his first goal for Liverpool after a defensive mix-up from the visitors.

20:38 BST - HALF-TIME - Brighton look to have things sewn up while Burnley and Chelsea trail to League One opposition.

Barnsley 0-3 Brighton

Burnley 0-2 Cardiff

Fulham 0-0 Cambridge United

Lincoln City 1-0 Chelsea

Wigan 0-1 Wycombe

Wolves 1-0 Everton

Wrexham 0-0 Reading

Liverpool 0-0 Southampton (latest)

20:27 BST - GOAL! Is there a big upset on the cards tonight?

Robert Street gives Lincoln a deserved lead against a lacklustre Chelsea.

20:24 BST - GOAL! Burnley find themselves 2-0 down to League One Cardiff thanks to a goal from Callum Robinson.

20:20 BST - GOAL! Diego Gomez has a hat-trick after banging in a stunning long-range belter. Loads of swazz on that one.

It's 3-0 to Brighton.

20:19 BST - GOAL! Joel Colwill puts Cardiff ahead away at Burnley.

Meanwhile, Wycombe have taken the lead at Wigan.

20:15 BST - GOAL! Wolves have the lead against Everton somewhat against the run of play, Marshall Munetsi knocking in a rebounded effort.

20:08 BST - GOAL! Brighton double their lead and Diego Gomez doubles his tally for the night, this time with a rifled effort from outside the box.

20:01 BST - We're also now up and running at Anfield.

19:56 BST - GOAL! Brighton take the lead away at Barnsley through a tap-in from Diego Gomez.

19:48 BST - It's been a fast start from Lincoln against Chelsea, hitting the post within the first two minutes.

19:46 BST - We're underway in seven of the eight games.

19:11 BST - It's a strong XI being put out by Enzo Maresca as Chelsea travel to Lincoln tonight, including starts for Alejandro Garnacho and Enzo Fernandez.
