Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has spoken to the media ahead of this week's EFL Clash with Liverpool.

Only once in the past six years have the Eagles progressed past the fourth round of the competition.

However, Glasner’s side have the perfect chance to book their spot in the final eight against a Liverpool team who have lost five of their last six matches across all competitions.

How are the Palace side recovering?

Glasner first spoke on how the squad is coping after Sunday’s clash with Arsenal, in which they lost 1-0 to the league leaders.

"Very well, to be honest. We’ve just one issue, Chris Richards has a little bit of an issue with his calf, so he won’t make the trip to Liverpool tomorrow.

"All the others are fine and recovered well. The players showed at the Emirates that they are fit, and they could try to get the equaliser until the final whistle, so it looks positive."

Glasner reveals who will start against Liverpool

He was next very open about who will start the clash against The Reds, which manager Arne Slot will be happy to see as he plans his tactics.

"Jaydee (Jaydee Canvot) will start, and also Walter Benítez will start – they are the two players I can mention today.

"It’s not a gift – they deserve it. Jaydee, I spoke to him and said I don’t care about (his error against Larnaca last week), it’s part of football. He won a lot of duels, and he’s doing well in training. We trust him, and that’s why he will start tomorrow in the back three.

"Walter is the same. He’s doing so well in training, and he deserves to get some minutes as well."

Reflecting on the Arsenal loss

Next, Glasner was asked about the loss to Arsenal, in which former Eagles star Eberechi Eze haunted his former club with a fine first-half finish.

"We have taken one point, that is fact. Not the best output but we didn't drop our performances compared to the games before.

"We watched the Arsenal game back and we gave them two finishes, two shots from open play over 100 minutes at the Emirates.

"Yes they were better than we were in set piece, that's why they won the game."

Liverpool's poor form

Finally, questions turned to Liverpool's dire form which has seen them fall seven points below The Gunners in the title race this season.

"A little bit more question marks, we don't know which they are playing. Usually, in the EFL Cup, they would rotate quite a lot.

"They have a few doubts with injuries, but the way they are playing won't really change."
