Chelsea will be eager to quickly put their shock Premier League defeat against Sunderland behind them when they travel to face Wolves in the EFL Cup fourth round.

The Blues had won four games on the spin before that loss and will see this clash as the perfect chance to get back on track against a Wolves side still searching for their first Premier League victory of the season.

Chelsea to win

Despite Saturday’s setback, Chelsea arrive at Molineux in far better shape than their opponents. Enzo Maresca’s men have won their last two away matches, including a 2-1 win at Lincoln in the previous round, and have looked increasingly comfortable on their travels.

The Blues’ fluid attacking patterns have produced 14 goals across their last five outings in all competitions, while Wolves have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last eight matches. With Wolves sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table after nine winless games (D2, L7), confidence is low, and Chelsea’s superior depth and intensity should shine through here.

Backing the visitors to bounce back with a win looks like a solid play, especially with Maresca likely to field a strong lineup to secure a place in the last eight.

Tip: Chelsea to win @ 31/50

Bet explanation: This bet wins if Chelsea beats Wolves in regular time.

Chelsea to qualify

For those seeking a slightly safer option, the “to qualify” market offers strong value. Wolves may look to frustrate Chelsea early, but their record in this competition is poor as they haven’t reached the quarter-finals since 2021 - and they have managed just one win in their last seven home matches.

Even if extra time is required, Chelsea’s stronger bench could prove decisive, with impact players like Jamie Gittens and Estevao able to change the game late on.

Considering that Wolves have had a poor start to the season, priority will be to stay in the league; hence, there might be the temptation to rest players and forfeit the cup.

Tip: Chelsea to qualify @ 9/25

Bet explanation: This bet wins if Chelsea qualifies after the match ends either through regular time, extra time or penalties.

Over 1.5 goals

Chelsea’s recent matches have been full of action, with each of their last five fixtures seeing over 2.5 goals scored. Even in defeat to Sunderland, the Blues produced 16 attempts on goal and dominated possession.

Wolves, meanwhile, have seen at least two goals scored in seven of their last eight matches. With both teams looking to make a statement, and Chelsea’s attacking depth featuring the likes of João Pedro, Estevao and Pedro Neto, it’s hard to see this staying low-scoring.

Tip: Over 1.5 goals @ 4/25

Bet explanation: This bet wins if there are at least two goals scored in the game between Wolves and Chelsea.
