22:49 BST - That's it from us this evening, thanks for joining us! Don't forget you can stay across England quarter-final against Sweden by clicking here.

22:41 BST - Meanwhile, Wales manager Rhian Wilkinson says it's her job to "try and close the gap" between Wales and the best teams in world football.

"It is a hard one. We know this was not our game and we were outplayed and I was outcoached," she told ITV Sport.

"It's a moment when you know you will take a lot from it. I wouldn't want to stand with any other team. There is a gap between us and the top teams, and that's my job, to try and close that gap.

"I just want to thank the support. It was a tough game to stay loud and they did. We know we have got some work to do and this is not a team that is ready for tournament football too. I have got to be sharper too.

"Grow and learn, that is what we have got to do. I am glad we got the goal and we know we will put our heads down and continue working."

22:35 BST - Some words as well from Wales' goalscorer Hannah Cain, who told Match of the Day Wales: "To score for your country is something that is a massive achievement but to do it on the biggest stage for the first time I'll be forever proud of that and I know all my family will be too."

22:25 BST - England boss Sarina Wiegman is looking forward to a quarter-final against a "powerful" Sweden side on Thursday.

"They're always a team, they're always very powerful, they have speed up front on the counter-attack. It is a hard team to beat," she told ITV.

"They have done well in the group. We will see and we will get ready. Recover from this one and then we go again against Sweden in Zurich.

"I'm very happy. As far as I know, everyone one come out fit from this game. We have three days to recover - we knew ahead of this tournament that this group was hard. When you lose the first game there is a massive urgency to win the other two.

"So it gave us a lot of learning again with the team, and it brought us together that loss (against France)."

22:08 BST - England's title defence remains alive and they now know their next assignement. The Lionesses head for Zurich for a quarter-final against Sweden which kicks off at 8pm BST on Thursday.

21:54 BST - FULL-TIME: England have won 6-1 and in doing so have booked their place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2025, where they will face Sweden. France have beaten the Netherlands 5-2, meaning it is the French who finish top of Pool D and will face Germany in the last eight.

For Wales, that is the end of their tournament, but Hannah Cain gave them plenty to cheer about with her brilliant goal this evening.

21:51 BST - GOAL! Aggie Beever-Jones has notched England's sixth. Despite the scoreline, the second half has been much closer, with England only outscoring Wales two goals to one as things stand.

21:38 BST - GOAL! Wales have a goal! Hannah Cain is the provider with a superb effort into the corner. England 5-1 Wales.

21:35 BST - GOAL! Wales kept England quiet for much of the second half, but the resistance could only last so long. Beth Mead is the latest on the scoresheet for England, who are now 5-0 ahead.

21:30 BST - Delphine Cascarino has another! That means France are now 4-2 ahead, having scored three goals in a six-minute period.

21:26 BST - Delphine Cascarino has France's third, and they are now firmly in the driving seat to top Pool D.

21:25 BST - Marie-Antoinette Katoto has pulled France level with the Netherlands at 2-2, which puts the French top of the group and England second as things stand.

21:07 BST - We are back underway!

20:56 BST - In tonight's other match, France trail the Netherlands 2-1, which means as things stand, England would top the group.

20:51 BST - HALF-TIME: We have reached the break and truthfully it's hard to see how Wales get back into this one.

20:45 BST - GOAL! Alessia Russo is the latest on the scoreboard this evening. Wales needed to score four goals to stand any chance of progressing to the last eight - they now need eight.

20:33 BST - GOAL! Lauren Hemp puts England's third into the back of the net and that will surely end this game as a spectacle.

20:22 BST - GOAL! Ella Toone has made it 2-0 after some poor defending from Wales.

20:14 BST - GOAL! Georgia Stanway gives England the early lead.

20:13 BST - PENALTY! After a lengthy VAR check, England have been awarded a penalty following a foul from Carrie Jones on Georgia Stanway on the edge of the box.

20:00 BST - Here we go, with a blow of the whistle the game is underway!

19:50 BST - What do Wales need in order to progress to the last eight?

Rhian Wilkinson’s side will reach the quarter-finals if they beat England by four or more goals and the Netherlands lose to France. However, even holding up their end of the bargain seems unlikely given that Wales have never beaten a top-ten ranked side.

19:45 BST - We are 15 minutes away from kick-off - can Wales cause an upset here and give themselves a shot at a quarter-final?

19:29 BST - Stern focus.

19:11 BST - And their English counterparts.

19:04 BST - The Welsh players given the nod this evening.

18:54 BST - Here's how the two teams will line up this evening.

18:29 BST - This will be the first H2H between the sides since 2018, with England unbeaten across all four previous meetings (W3, D1). The last clash saw England win 3-0, while Wales are still yet to find the back of the net in the fixture.

18:11 BST - There are two Group D fixtures taking place today, with France taking on the Netherlands in the other.

France have already qualified for the quarter-finals, and it is the other three who are jostling for places. The Netherlands need a favour from Wales if they are to progress, while Wales need a favour from France and a big win of their own. Plenty still to play for tonight.

17:56 BST - The Lionesses are in the house.

17:20 BST - Good evening and welcome to our live tracker for the Euro 2025 match between England and Wales.

There is a quarter-final spot on the line for both teams but while England only need to win, Wales need a victory by a large margin in order to have a chance of progression.
