Italy captain Cristiana Girelli wanted to remind everyone of the importance of the commitment ahead of their Euro 2025 semi-final clash with England.

Next Tuesday, Italy will face reigning champions England for a place in the final of the women's European Championships.

Girelli has insisted her teammates know to stay focused on the task at hand.

"We know very well what we are going to play and how important the match that awaits us is; we do not want to settle, so we have to believe in it, and we have also told each other so," she said.

Girelli also explained what she expects heading into the match and how she hopes to make a telling impact against the English.

"The striker must score goals, but my main goal is to help my teammates, whether it is a goal or an assist

"I try to repay in any way the coach for the trust he gives me. We struggled to be here and now, however it goes, the wish is that this love for us continues."

England women's captain Leah Williamson was a doubt ahead of the match but should be able to feature against Italy.

Esme Morgan, who replaced Williamson in the 25th minute of the second half against Sweden, revealed she expects her captain to be fit to play.

"I saw today that she is well and in a great mood," Morgan said of her teammate.,

"Ready to work as always, so I think she will be there on Tuesday. I want the best for my team and so I also want Leah to be on the field.

"And yes, I am sure she will make it. As for me, throughout this tournament, I have always worked hard to be ready when I am needed."

For England, the reigning champions, Tuesday will be the seventh time they have played in a European Championship semi-final.

And it is the first time in the last 12 years (Germany did it in 2013) that a title-defending nation has made it into the final four of the tournament, a testament to the balance that reigns in women's football.
