After their late miracle against Twente in the previous round, and having won seven of eight home matches in European competition this season, the hosts quickly set about making it another magical night at the Aspmyra Stadion.
With just eight minutes gone, the Yellow Horde’s opening goal owed more to fortune than skill, as Jostein Gundersen’s header rattled off the bar before ricocheting in off the back of Olympiacos goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis.
It was the first act of a dominant first half for the home team, although they survived scares from Roman Yaremchuk as the Ukrainian was twice denied by Nikita Haikin.
As the first half drew to a close, Kjetil Knutsen’s side excelled, with Kasper Hogh being the centre of attention for both positive and negative reasons.
First Glimt’s top goalscorer spurned a great chance by blasting straight at Tzolakis, after an incredible 70-yard run from Fredrik Andre Bjorkan, but five minutes later he would double his team’s lead.
Excellent link-up play down the right wing released Ole Didrik Blomberg, and his cross was scuffed home by Hogh past a wrong-footed Tzolakis.
The break proved to be only a 15-minute reprieve for the Greek side, who continued to be blown away by an opposition who saw their chance to kill off the tie.
Ulrik Saltnes had already been denied by Tzolakis by the time Hogh scored his second of the night, as the Danish striker tapped home to convert a Bjorkan cross.

Eventually Jose Luis Mendilibar’s men showed some resistance, as they went in search of a goal that would give them hope for the return leg next week.
However, each time the Legend threatened they were thwarted by excellent defending, most notably an incredible last-ditch tackle by Fredrik Sjovold on the hour mark.
The Greek side eventually ran out of steam, meaning they need a Phoenix-like rebirth next week to rebuild from the ashes of a terrible night in northern Norway.
