The Europa League final in 2025 is just around the corner, but where will it be held in 2026 and 2027?
The Europa League Final is the last match of UEFA’s secondary competition, the Europa League. Winners of the tournament get automatic qualification to UEFA’s premier club tournament, the Champions League.
Each year, the tournament is held in another stadium under UEFA’s jurisdiction and below we look at the recent awardees of the final in 2025, 2026 and 2027.
The 2025 Europa League final: When and where
The 2025 final will be contested between English sides Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Both teams desperately need a win to salvage their seasons and secure a spot in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League.
This will be Manchester United’s thirteenth final in UEFA competitions and second in the Europa League. The first time United reached the final was in 2017, where they beat Ajax 2-0 at the Friends Arena in Solna, Stockholm, Sweden. Goals from Paul Pogba and Henrik Mkhitaryan won the game for Jose Mourinho’s side, which saw them add the Europa League to the Community Shield and League Cup they had already won that season. United were last in the Europa League final in 2021, a final they lost to Villarreal on penalties after the game finished 1-1 after extra time.
Tottenham Hotspur have reached the fourth UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League final in their history. This will be their first appearance in the final since they won the tournament back in 1984, the second time they have won the trophy after winning the inaugural UEFA Cup in 1972. They have only one loss in UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League finals, and that was in 1974, when they lost to the Dutch team Feyenoord.
The 2025 Europa League Final will take place on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. It will be played at San Mamés in Bilbao, Spain, home of Athletic Bilbao, who lost in the semifinals to United. In the UK, the match will kick off at 8pm BST.
The 2026 Europa League final: When and where
The 2026 UEFA Europa League final will be played at the Besiktas Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey. This is the home stadium for Turkish side Besiktas and can seat almost 43,000 fans. It is a relatively new stadium, having been opened in 2016, and was the venue for the 2019 UEFA Super Cup.
This will be the second time that the Europa League final will be contested in Turkey. The first time was in 2009, when Shakhtar Donetsk defeated Werder Bremen at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul, the home of Fenerbahce.
The stadium was awarded the final in May 2024 and will host the 2026 Europa League Final on May 20, 2026. In the UK, it will be played at 8pm BST.
The 2027 Europa League final: When and where
The 2027 Europa League Final was also awarded in May 2024, at the same time as the 2026 final. This 2027 final will be held at the Waldstadion (currently known as Deutsche Bank Park) in Frankfurt, home of Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.
This will be the third time the Europa League final will be held in Germany, after being held at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg in 2010 and at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne in 2020. The Waldstadion can host up to 58,000 spectators and previously hosted four games from the 2011 Women’s World Cup, including the final, and five games from the men’s 2024 Euros.
The 2027 Europa League final will be played on May 26, 2027 and will be shown in the UK at 8pm BST.
