This will be the first encounter between Liverpool and Crystal Palace at Wembley. It's also the first Community Shield match since 1989 where the teams met in both the league’s final game of the previous season and the shield fixture.
Liverpool come into this game as worthy Premier League champions from last season, whereas Palace shocked Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

Liverpool to win
Liverpool have only outright won the Community Shield on one of the last six occasions they’ve played in the match as league champions, beating Wimbledon 2-1 in 1988.
