18:30 BST - That will do it! Thank you for joining us for our coverage of the FA Cup final. We hope you'll join us again soon.

18:26 BST - In case you missed them, catch up on all the highlights from today's final:

18:20 BST - Today's result also has plenty of ramifications regarding who plays in Europe next season.

Victory for United gains them qualification for the Europa League and relegates Chelsea into the Europa Conference League.

Newcastle, who finished in seventh, will miss out on European football altogether.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Guardiola praised his counterpart in Ten Hag as "extraordinary" despite his future remaining up in the air.

"They (Man Utd) have to take a decision. He's a lovely person and an extraordinary manager. Winning the FA Cup is important for them like last season it was for us."

18:01 BST - Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola cut a frustrated figure when reflecting on his team falling short at Wembley.

"We lost the game. Congratulations to United. It was a tight game," he told the BBC.

"It can happen. Many things. At the end they scored two goals and we couldn’t score more."

On whether he thought United were the better team, he said: "No. The second half we were there all the game. Manchester United are always a transition team. First half we struggled a bit but second half we were better. In general it is a good performance for a final."

17:43 BST - More from Ten Hag, who admitted he is unsure if today's win is his final game in charge of the Red Devils amid speculation he will be dismissed.

"I don't know (if I will leave Man Utd)," Ten Hag said when asked about his future.

"The only thing I'm doing is preparing, developing my team and individual players. For me, this is a project.

"When I came in it was a mess. We are better but not where we want to be."

17:37 BST - Erik ten Hag hailed his side's "identity" and full team performance at Wembley.

He told the BBC: "All compliments to the team. We played very good to our identity. Very strong. You have seen how we can play when we have the players on board. Some were not even match fit but the performance was very good."

17:21 BST - The Manchester United players make the famous walk and Bruno Fernandes lifts the FA Cup!

17:17 BST - Garnacho's fellow goalscorer Kobbie Mainoo also told the BBC"(Winning the FA Cup means) absolutely everything. It's been a tough season with ups and downs. This is the only thing we've had to look forward to. Last year I was in the stands.

"We knew we had to come together. The preparation for this game has been amazing. We've shown we can compete and win games."

Alejandro Garnacho hailed United's team spirit en route to downing their local rivals.

"Incredible. Nobody believed in us. But we’re a team, all together. We fought, the game of our lives," he told the BBC.

"The fans are always there when we win, or lose, home or away."

16:57 BST - FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED ARE FA CUP CHAMPIONS!

It's all over! A huge performance from United sees them earn their first FA Cup since 2016 and all against their local rivals!

City are unable to go back-to-back as they end their campaign with just the Premier League title in their cabinet - not bad going.

16:51 BST - Two late changes for United as Garnacho and McTominay come off for Mount and Lindelof.

16:49 BST - Seven minutes added on time is shown by the fourth official.

16:45 BST - GOAL! CITY GET ONE BACK!

City get one back through Doku, who lines up a shot from distance which squeaks past the glove of Onana despite getting a big hand to it.

A nervy few minutes ahead for United...

16:35 BST - Walker goes for another long shot which Onana reaches well down low before the rebound spills out to Haaland before the offside flag is raised.

16:33 BST - City wildly appeal for a penalty after Haaland goes down under a challenge from Mainoo. He is being grappled but it's not enough for the referee.

16:26 BST - United push forward down the right with Garnacho driving into the box before firing a shot which is seen away by Ortega.

16:23 BST - BIG CHANCE! City fashion an opening but Alvarez can't get the ball out of his feet and can only shift his effort wide. Guardiola puts his head in his hands on the touchline.

16:18 BST - WHAT A SAVE! Walker unleashes a thunderbolt from range but Onana springs across to make a super stop.

16:16 BST - A third substitute for City and it's De Bruyne to come off this time. Not the best of games from the Belgian and he's replaced by Alvarez.

16:13 BST - CROSSBAR! City are threatening and come so close through Haaland, who smashes the bar after Doku's low cross rolls into his path in the box.

16:03 BST - First roll of the dice from Guardiola who makes two changes at the break - Akanji and Doku replace Ake and Kovacic.

15:49 BST - HALF-TIME: What a half from United who head into the break two up having nullified City so far.

Garnacho capitalised well on a defensive blunder from City to break the ice before Mainoo finished off an excellent move to double the scoreline.

Guardiola won't be happy with his side's display so far, but this will set up a very big 45 minutes.

15:40 BST - GOAL! MAINOO DOUBLES UNITED'S LEAD!

It's brilliant football from United who slice through City again with Fernandes' lovely pass finding Mainoo in the box, who confidently finishes past Ortega into the far corner.

What a moment for the 19-year-old United academy graduate.

15:39 BST - OFFSIDE! Garnacho is set through again and squares for Rashford who puts it away, but the flag is then raised.

15:31 BST - GOAL! UNITED TAKE THE LEAD!

It's a huge mix-up at the back between Ortega and Gvardiol when dealing with a ball over the top. The latter heads his pass beyond the onrushing goalkeeper, allowing Garnacho to race in and slot into an empty net.

15:28 BST - City work it well down the right and move it into Haaland whose shot is blocked before the ball is hooked away. First real sniff for the holders.

15:23 BST - Chaos! City look like they're caught in possession in their own box twice but Kovacic bails out Ortega with a timely challenge to take the ball away from Fernandes.

They break down the other way before the attack ends with Dalot fouling Haaland.

15:20 BST - City have settled into their usual possession but United are staying organised and forcing their opposite number into some misplaced passes.

15:10 BST - First real opening for United and it leads to a shot on goal. They work it well down the left and over to the right into Garnacho whose effort is straight at Ortega.

15:03 BST - Fast start at Wembley and City are appealing for a very early penalty.

Haaland and Martinez battle to meet a cross and a quick VAR check advises the referee to dismiss the claims.

15:01 BST - City get the game underway at the whistle of Andy Madley!

14:58 BST - National anthem and handshakes done, we're now all set to go at Wembley...

14:05 BST - The team news has arrived ahead of the 143rd FA Cup final.

Manchester City make three changes from the team that beat West Ham last weekend with John Stones coming in to make his first start since April 20th.

For Manchester United, Marcus Rashford starts and Raphael Varane partners Lisandro Martinez in central defence.

13:36 BST - On the other side of the fence and fresh from last weekend's Premier League title win, Manchester City are targeting back-to-back FA Cup victories.

They have won it seven times with two of them coming under Pep Guardiola.

13:14 BST - A Manchester derby in a domestic final is always going to generate plenty of talk, but this year's FA Cup final comes with some extra narrative given the uncertainty surrounding United boss Erik ten Hag.

Reports on Friday claimed the Dutchman will be sacked no matter what the result is today, although United have remained focused on overthrowing their city rivals.

13:05 BST - Hello and welcome to Flashscore UK's coverage of the FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United - a repeat of last season's Wembley showpiece!
