Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford admits he's been disappointed by the lack of action he's seen this season.

The former City academy prospect returned home last summer after a successful spell with Burnley.

However, after Gigio Donnarumma's signing from PSG, Trafford has strictly acted as cover for the Italy international this season.

Speaking after featuring in City's FA Cup win against Salford, Trafford told BBC Sport: "It was nice (to play), it wasn't what I expected coming into the season.

"I tried to guard against the situation happening but it's the reality and I know every time I play, I have to give it my best shot and try and win and try and improve.

"It's the current situation I'm in."
