Slot says he may hand chances to the likes of Trey Nyoni and Rio Nguhoma on the day.
He said this morning: "Not the first time we've had three games in seven days, it is part of being a top club. It depends what draw you have too and we play a strong Brighton side, they don't deserve the position they are in, they play so much better than the table shows, they deserve more than they get so it is another challenge.
"It took me a long time before I could fall asleep because I was constantly thinking of the same options. Which players, which other players, which positions, so I need another 24 hours.
"Where is this as a priority? We have three clear priorities, FA Cup, CL qualification and CL. We are also aware of the limited options so the load management is important, the last thing we need is another injury, so that is always the tough thing for a manager, to make the best decision every time. It wouldn't be the first time a player gets injured if they have to play three in seven.
"Most important thing is we train today, listen to the players, see how they feel and make the best decisions."
Liverpool will host Brighton on the back of a Premier League win at Sunderland in midweek.
Slot also said: "I am always looking at the younger players, a few of them are closer and closer to first-team football. Rio and Trey have had that and games like this could be an option but it is about the right balance.
"We play a strong team and who to play is something to think about."
Hungarian pair
Meanwhile, Slot took time out to discuss the impact of Hungary pair Dominik Szoboszlai and Milos Kerkez. Midfielder Szoboszlai's form since the New Year has some connected to Liverpool declaring him a future club captain.
Kerkez, a summer arrival from Bournemouth, has shaken off his slow start to begin showing why Liverpool chose him as Andrew Robertson's eventual successor.
Slot stated: "These two are important for us. How important are they for us? The energy borh bring is important, Milos has shown this season that defensively he is very solid and able to defend 1v1 against the best wingers in the world and more and more we saw what he did at Bournemouth, an offensive threat, the power to go up and down.
"Szoboszlai, I cannot stop talking about his qualities, close to ridiculous, on and off the ball, work rate another level, the intensity, he presses, unbelievable, technique, game insight, offensive midfielder, right-back, right-winger, all these qualities in these positions, he has been vital for us this and last season. He will continue to be that for us."
Van Dijk tribute
Virgil van Dijk proved the matchwinner at Sunderland and Slot was happy to pay tribute to his captain, who he insists is now returning to his best form.
He said, "He is vital of course, not even looking at the centre-back options, Virgil is fit every time and that is a big accomplishment for a player of his age, plays every three days but it is no coincidence because I see the work he puts in.
"It is always harder to stay fit when a team has setbacks, so it tells you a lot about his recovery and his mental strength, to stay with the team and lead the team with very good performances on and off the pitch, by example.
"I would almost say in the current Premier League doing set pieces well is the only attribute you should have! So yeah it is vital he scored against Bournemouth and Sunderland, he scored some last season too so he is a big threat offensively and defensively. So yeah he is vital and I hope he scores many more for us from set-pieces this season."
Endo news
Wataru Endo was stretchered off at Sunderland, with Slot admitting the injury was "a serious one" at the time. It's been suggested the Japan midfielder has suffered an ankle injury.
The Dutchman said today: "For the injury...we still need to assess but it's clear and obvious he's out for quite a long time. Don't forget he is a good centre-back and midfielder too and it is not as though positions...we're quite vulnerable there as well."
Ibou outstanding
Before concluding, Slot highlighted Ibrahima Konate's contribution to the win at Sunderland. The France defender has made an impressive return after taking time away from football following the passing of his father. Slot declared Konate's impact at the Stadium of Light was just as important as Van Dijk's goal.
He said: "Margins are so small, every single time a team has a sniff, they score. We put so much effort in before we are able to score and I didn't see too many differences in final 20 mins against Sunderland to City.
"We challenged in their box for the second, so the margins are small. One moment after 1-0 when Konate was in a fight with (Brian) Brobbey, but he won the tackle and played the ball. The margins are not happening then he turns and scores, but Ibou defended it perfectly and those are the margins we are talking about."
