Chelsea have confirmed they will not embark on an overseas pre-season tour, scaling back plans following their Club World Cup wining campaign under new boss Enzo Maresca.

Maresca came under fire from several sections of the Chelsea fanbase throughout the season but ultimately succeeded in his first season by securing Champions League football and the Europa Conference League title.

The 3-0 win over current European champions PSG in the FIFA Club World Cup final was the cherry on top of the cake, earning Chelsea’s second trophy of 2024-25.

Chelsea have now confirmed they won’t be venturing abroad like they usually do for pre-season, instead training at Cobham and playing friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan at Stamford Bridge in the VisitMalta Weekender.

A post on Chelsea's website reads: "Having spent much of June and July in the USA competing in our glorious FIFA Club World Cup campaign, we will be staying close to home for pre-season this year. As well as training at Cobham, Chelsea will be hosting the 2025 VisitMalta Weekender friendly tournament at Stamford Bridge."
