Palmeiras v Botafogo, Saturday, 17:00 BST

We have a grudge match at Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, on Saturday, as Brazilian duo Palmeiras and Botafogo face off. That means the Brazilian Serie A will have a team in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup, but will it be the Big Green from Sao Paulo or the Fire from Rio de Janeiro? You can place your bets now.
The head-to-head stats show that Palmeiras beat Botafogo by the odd one in a seven-goal thriller back in 2023, but they haven't won again since. Following that 4-3 defeat, Botafogo have played Palmeiras five times in all competitions, winning three and drawing two. The trends suggest we'll get more goals and a Botafogo win, and I'm happy to follow the numbers here.
Tip: Botafogo win @ 5/2 (bet365)
Bet explanation: If Botafogo wins after 90 minutes, you land a great price.
Benfica v Chelsea, Saturday, 21:00 BST

Saturday's programme from the Club World Cup features two games, with the all-European clash between Benfica and Chelsea serving as the main attraction. The Portuguese side finished second in the Primeira Liga, but won a competitive Group C against all the odds. They collected seven points, one more than runners-up Bayern Munich. Benfica also beat the big-name Germans. Will they do the same to the stars of English football?
Chelsea ended second in Group D behind Flamengo with six points, thanks to two wins and a defeat. The star-studded Blues haven't hit top speed yet, but knockout football will bring out the best in Enzo Maresca's Londoners. Chelsea boasts a 100% record against Benfica from three previous games. Interestingly, the winning margin was one goal in each, and I expect another battling win for the Blues. It won't be easy, but back Chelsea to secure a spot in the quarters. Both teams scored in each of the last two meetings, and we're on a treble.
Tip: Chelsea win and both score @ 10/3 (bet365)
Bet explanation: You need Chelsea to win, but Benfica to score at least one goal.
PSG v Inter Miami, Sunday, 17:00 BST

Action from the United States continues thick and fast this weekend, with the European champions, PSG, playing home nation favourites, Inter Miami, on Sunday. The Parisians won Group B with six points from a possible nine, but suffered a surprise defeat to Brazilian side Botafogo on matchday two. The big guns from Miami ended second in Group A with five points and an unbeaten record. Both have impressed, but there's only room for one in the last eight.
PSG scored six goals and conceded just one. Inter Miami scored four goals and conceded three. With those stats in mind, we look forward to a tense affair. The impressive Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Georgia, home of the NFL side the Atlanta Falcons, provides the backdrop, and I expect the match to do the setting justice. I'm siding with the experience and confidence of PSG, but expect Inter Miami, led by former PSG player Lionel Messi, to score.
Tip: Back PSG win and both score @ 6/4 (bet365)
Explanation: PSG must win the match in regulation time, but Inter Miami must score at least one goal.
Flamengo v Bayern Munich, Sunday, 21:00 BST

Sunday evening brings a meeting of Brazil and Germany at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. This venue has already hosted some impressive contests, including a four-goal draw between Inter Miami and Palmeiras earlier this week. Strap yourself in for another thriller. Flamengo won Group D ahead of Chelsea with two wins and a draw. Bayern Munich finished second in Group C with back-to-back wins, followed by a defeat. Did the Germans take their foot off the gas on matchday three, knowing they were through? I think so.
Both teams conceded just two goals in three group games, but there was a striking difference at the opposite end of the pitch. Bayern Munich rattled in a dozen goals, while Palmeiras managed only half that number. That suggests FCB has the firepower to progress. Coupled with big-game experience, they're good enough to continue their stay in the United States.
Tip: Bayern Munich HT/FT @ 13/8 (bet365)
Bet explanation: The Germans must be ahead at half-time and full-time for your bet to land.
Inter Milan v Fluminense, Monday, 20:00 BST

Italian Serie A side Inter Milan continues its bid to become Club World Cup champions when facing Fluminense at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. The Serie A runners-up were also second in the UEFA Champions League, hammered 5-0 in Germany by PSG. They won CWC Group E with seven points from nine, and now plot a way past the second-best team from Group F.
Milan scored five goals and conceded two in their three group starts. Fluminense scored four and conceded a couple. That suggests a low-scoring game. Milan drew 1-1 with Monterrey, beat Urawa Reds 2-1, scoring a winner in stoppage time, and beat River Plate 2-0 on Thursday. Two of Fluminense's three group games ended goalless, including a 0-0 draw with Mamelodi Sundowns in midweek. With that in mind, I'm taking Inter Milan to win to nil at odds that work as a single or in your football accumulators.
Tip: Inter Milan win to nil @ 7/4 (bet365)
Bet explanation: You need Milan to win and to keep a clean sheet.
Man City v Al Hilal, Tuesday, 02:00 BST

Very few predicted that a wounded Manchester City would defeat Juventus in the final game from Group G. Even fewer picked Pep Guardiola's men to put five goals past the Italians. The EPL side looked like their old selves when winning 5-2 on Thursday to snatch the pool. Like all good sides, they appear to be hitting form at the right time, and still have a few more gears to go through. Man City are firm favourites to progress, and I expect them to get the job done.
Saudi Pro League runners-up, Al Hilal also ended second in Group H behind Real Madrid, thanks to an unbeaten record of two draws and a win. They ended 1-1 with Blancos, finished goalless with RB Salzburg, and beat Pachuca 2-0 on matchday three. The low-scorers now face a Man City defence that guarded the zero against both Wydad Casablanca and Al Ain. City were also the highest scorers in the groups. Back them to win on the handicap.
Tip: Man City -2 handicap @ 21/10 (bet365)
Bet explanation: The Premier League side must win by three or more goals in normal time.
Real Madrid v Juventus, Tuesday, 20:00 BST

It was decided late in the day, after Man City thrashed the Italians 5-2 on matchday three, but it was well worth the wait. European superpowers Real Madrid and Juventus go head-to-head in knockout football at the Club World Cup, and this match is guaranteed to live up to the hype. It's good enough to serve as a final of any major competition, but there's only room for one of these big names in the quarter-finals.
Revising their performances in the groups, Real Madrid topped their division with two wins and a draw, scoring seven goals and conceding two. Juve ended second in their pool, with two wins and a defeat, scoring 11 goals and leaking six. As is always the case at the highest level, the team with the best defence will progress, and that's Madrid. Blancos beat the Old Lady by three clear goals in two of their last three meetings. Back them on the handicap at a price.
Tip: Real Madrid -1 handicap @ 7/4 (bet365)
Bet explanation: You want Madrid to beat Juve by at least two clear goals.
Borussia Dortmund v Monterrey, Wednesday, 02:00 BST

German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund opened their Club World Cup account by drawing 0-0 with Brazilian side Fluminense. Initially, I thought the Germans would struggle in the United States, but they fought back and finished strong to win Group F with seven points, two more than Tricolour. Dortmund did as expected and beat Ulsan HD on Wednesday to cross the line in style. Mexican side Monterrey posted a second-place finish in E behind Inter Milan, thanks to two draws and a win.
Neither Dortmund nor Monterrey were overly impressive in the three-game group stage, but I expect BVB to secure a third consecutive win. They are improving with every game played in the States, but must be at their best to beat a fit and well-organised opponent that has conceded just once so far. Take Dortmund for a narrow win.
Tip: Borussia Dortmund 1-0 Monterrey @ 15/2 (bet365)
Bet explanation: If the final score reads 1-0 to the Germans, you land a handsome prize.
