Flamengo and Esperance Tunis meet for the first time in a competitive match in the newly formatted 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
This will be Flamengo’s second appearance at the Club World Cup, with their best performance being a runners-up finish in 2019 under the old format. Esperance Tunis have made three appearances at the tournament before appearing in the 2011, 2018, and 2019 editions, only winning one of the six matches they have played in the tournament.
Including the previous competition format, this match will not only be the first match between the two teams but also the first match between teams from Brazil and Tunisia.

Both teams head into the match on the back of good runs domestically. Flamengo are unbeaten in eight games, which is bettered by Esperance’s 11-game unbeaten streak.
Despite the domestic runs, Esperance have only won one game previously in the Club World Cup, which was against Qatari club Al Sadd in the 2019 edition. Flamengo have much more experience on this stage, and the Brazilian Serie A is of a higher calibre than the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1, meaning this match looks like it should be Flamengo’s to win.

The whole debate going into this game is mainly about how much Flamengo will win by. In the Brazilian Serie A, Flamengo have only lost one of their last 20 matches (W12 D7), and this season, they have scored 24 goals in 11 matches. This is their best return after 11 games in a season since they scored 25 goals in the 2008 season.
Bet365 have over 1.5 goals down at 2/9, which does not seem like a good return on a bet, but is a likely scenario. Over 2.5 goals are down at 8/11 and over 3.5 down at 7/4.
