We have reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup, and it has thrown up this exciting tie between PSG and Bayern Munich. The two teams regularly compete at the highest domestic and continental levels, but now meet on the international stage for the first time.
UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain have had some eye-catching results so far, blowing away all teams bar one. Their 1-0 loss to Botofogo on matchday two of the group stages did not stop the Parisians from progressing and, if anything, spurred them on to reach the quarters back at their best.
Bayern Munich also lost a game in the group stages, a 1-0 loss to Benfica, but they were already through. Despite the loss in their final group game, the team came roaring back to beat Flamengo 4-2 in the last-16 and now face their toughest test of the tournament so far.

PSG team news
Luis Enrique’s men have been scoring for fun in the Club World Cup, continuing the form from the end of the season. The Parisians have 10 goals over their four games, but only one of their forward line has scored, that being Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Goals have been coming from throughout the team, with top scorers in this tournament being João Neves and Achraf Hakimi, both on two.
They are not just scoring, but not conceding. In eight straight games across all competitions, PSG have limited their opponent to fewer than one expected goal, as well as fewer than 10 shot attempts. Their four games at the current FIFA Club World Cup have seen them concede an average of just six shots and 0.55 xG per match, with only one goal conceded against Botafogo.
What has helped is that the team has been stable with no new injury concerns, even welcoming back Ousmane Dembele in the last game from injury for his first appearance in the competition.

Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Ruiz, Joao Neves, Vitinha; Barcola, Doue, Kvaratskhelia.
Bayern Munich team news
Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise and Striker Harry Kane are joint second top goal scorers of the competition so far. Both have scored three goals and sit second with Erling Haaland, Angel Di Maria, Marcos Leonardo, Serhou Guirassy, Germán Berterame and Gonzalo García. Angel Di Maria sits atop the tree with four, but with his Benfica team having lost to Chelsea, Kane and Olise have a chance to usurp him.
Vincent Kompany’s men were worthy winners against Flamengo, but did have to weather the storm at points. The Germans came through that game with their team unscathed and will head into the PSG match with all their players to choose from.
The only player who will be missing is Leroy Sane, who has departed for Galatasaray, who he signed for in June but only joined on June 30th.

Head-to-head record
This will be the 15th competitive meeting between PSG and Bayern, with the German side holding the head-to-head edge in terms of results eight to six. Bayern have won each of the last four head-to-heads, including a 1-0 victory as recently as November in the Champions League.
If Bayern are victorious, they can become the first team in over 15 years to win five successive matches against PSG. The last team to win five in a row against PSG was Rennes, between 2007 and 2009, in Ligue 1.
