Barcelona face their second successive home league game after the drubbing of Valencia and their European outing at Newcastle. And they do so by hosting one of the revelations of these early stages of the league, Getafe. Barça are second, two points behind the leaders (3W, 1D) their opponents in this game are not far behind and come into the fifth matchday with only one point less than the Culés (3W, 1L).
Given the standing of both sides in the table, this match could be an interesting test to measure the Catalan side's aspirations of retaining their league title, as well as the possible European hopes of a Getafe side that has grown a lot as a group in the first few weeks of the season, despite having to sell important players and having already played some complicated matches with just enough players to put together a team.
The match, like the visit of Valencia the previous matchday, will be played in the small Johan Cruyff Arena, given that playing at the Spotify Camp Nou is still not possible yet.

Getafe are one of the teams that have dealt with the brutal attacking potential exhibited by Barcelona in recent times, but the truth is that they have been one of those sides that have struggled most in front of goal in the league for many months now. These two scenarios make it is possible that there will be a lack of goals and that only one, heavily favoured Barça, will manage to score. Six of the last seven meetings between the two sides have ended goalless or with goals from just one of the teams, situations that have also occurred in seven of José Bordalás' side's last ten visits to Barcelona, including the last three in succession. This match also comes after Barça stopped Valencia from scoring too.

As mentioned above, Bordalás knows how to make attacking difficult for Flick's Barça, conceding only one goal in each of the last two meetings, each of which had fewer than three goals in total. It seems fairly certain that the total goals in the match will not exceed three, but that it won't stay at zero either. In fact, all four of Getafe's games in this league had some goals but none exceeded three. This prediction has also been right in five of Getafe's last seven visits to Barcelona.

Barcelona keep a clean sheet
Barcelona kept a clean sheet in their only home game of the season and host the second lowest-scoring team of last season (34 in 38 games in 2024/25), a figure only beaten by Valladolid, who were relegated long before the end of last season. It is true that Getafe have found more attacking solutions so far this seascon, despite the departure of Christantus Uche, only going goaless in their 3-0 win over Valencia on matchday three. However, Barcelona have not conceded a goal in seven of Getafe's last ten visits, including the last three and, with the improvement in net with the arrival of Joan García, Barça could be extending that run.
