This Catalan derby will round off this La Liga EA Sports matchday. Girona are showing signs of improvement, despite going three games without a win (D2, L1), and start the matchday four points clear of the relegation zone. They host Flick’s Barcelona, who lead the league going into the weekend and are aiming to finish Monday still at the summit, before finally enjoying a much-needed free week thanks to their Champions League progress.
Memories are still fresh of Barça’s hard-fought win in the reverse fixture, when Araújo scored a last-gasp winner for a 2-1 victory. Pedri had put Barcelona ahead in the 13th minute, with Witsel equalising in the 20th.

Joan García steps up
Joan García has become one of the key figures in Flick’s second season at Barça. The team sorely missed him during his injury layoff, and he’s been crucial in keeping out goals since his return. He’s made two or more saves in 12 of his last 15 appearances for Barcelona, including all five away league games since coming back from injury. In fact, he’s made over 1.5 saves in eight of the nine away league matches he’s played, the only exception being the opening game at Mallorca, where he faced just one shot on target.
Of course, this prediction depends on the opposition, but Girona have managed two or more shots on target in 17 of their last 18 league games, so we can expect the Barça keeper to be kept busy—he was injured when these sides last met.

Tip: Joan García to make over 1.5 saves – 4/9 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if Joan García makes two or more saves.
Barça to score more than one and fewer than five
Barcelona are the league’s top scorers by some margin, averaging almost three goals per game (63 in 23 matches), and have also found the net freely away from home (29 goals in 12 games). We expect them to score again here. The Catalans have scored between two and four goals in each of their last six matches, and have done so in seven of their last eight away games in all competitions. They’ve also hit those numbers in the last five meetings between these two sides.
Tip: Barça to score between 2 and 4 goals – 8/15 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if Barcelona score more than one but fewer than five goals.
Girona to score one or two goals
Míchel’s side are also known for their possession-based play, averaging close to a goal per game in the league (22 in 23 matches) and at home (10 in 11). Against the most porous defence among the top three (23 goals conceded in 23 games) and a side that has let in 18 goals in 12 away matches—among the seven leakiest away records in the league—we expect Girona to find the net. They’ve scored once or twice in six of their last eight league games, as well as in five of their last seven home matches, and in each of the last three meetings between these teams.
Tip: Girona to score one or two goals – 4/6 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if Girona score at least once but no more than twice.
