Matchday 14 of La Liga EA Sports promises plenty of excitement. The top of the table is tighter than ever, with just four points separating the top four teams, and the bottom of the table is also close, with the bottom five teams within three points of each other. Here are our top predictions for a round in which the Seville derby between Betis and Sevilla is set to take centre stage.
Getafe v Elche: Friday, 20:00 GMT

Getafe and Elche kick off the matchday in a game where few goals are expected, but still contains plenty of attacking action. Five of Elche’s last seven matches have seen more than seven total corners, as have Getafe’s last three league games. Interestingly, the last six top-flight meetings between these two sides have also produced more than seven corners. You could push for over eight corners, which is priced at 10/11 with bet365, but playing it safe might be the smarter move.
Tip: Over 7 corners - 8/15 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if there are eight or more corners in total in the match.
Barcelona v Alavés: Saturday, 15:15 GMT

Barça host an Alavés side who arrive with a lack of confidence after losing their last two matches without scoring. In contrast, the Catalans seem to have rediscovered some solidity in their recent league outings. Flick’s men have won all their home games in the league so far, and in four of those six matches, Barça were ahead at both half-time and full-time. The same has happened in two of the last three meetings between these sides. Additionally, four of Alavés’ six away games in the league have had the same result at half-time and full-time.
Tip: Barça to be winning at half-time and full-time - 4/6 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if Barça are ahead at half-time and go on to win the match.
Atlético Madrid v Oviedo: Saturday, 20:00 GMT

Oviedo’s visit to Atlético Madrid sees the hosts as clear favourites, but there’s a notable statistic: in four of Atlético’s last five league games, only one team has found the net. Similarly, just one of Oviedo’s previous six matches has seen both teams score. Oviedo themselves have gone three league games without scoring. For these reasons, betting on both teams not to score could be a good option.
Tip: Both teams NOT to score - 1/2 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if only one team, or neither, scores. Both teams cannot score.
Real Sociedad v Villarreal: Sunday, 13:00 GMT

On paper, this looks set to be one of the most entertaining matches of the weekend in La Liga. Both teams enjoy attacking football and have shown plenty of offensive threat in recent games. Real Sociedad, who are on the up, have seen both teams score in each of their last five league matches, and now face a Villarreal side who are the third-highest scorers in the competition (26 goals) and have only failed to score once (away to Atlético Madrid). For all these reasons, we expect both teams to find the net, a feat that has occurred in two of the last three meetings between them.
Tip: Both teams to score - 7/10 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if both teams score at least once.
Sevilla v Real Betis: Sunday, 15:15 GMT

The Seville derby is one of the highlights of the La Liga EA Sports season, and it’s a blow for Betis that Antony is suspended. While Sevilla’s matches have seen goals this season, the Brazilian’s absence could blunt Betis’ attacking edge. Their last three games have all finished with under 2.5 total goals, a statistic that also applies to three of their last four league fixtures. Furthermore, five of the last six Seville derbies, which are usually tense affairs, have finished with fewer than three goals, a trend also seen in five of the last six derbies played at Sevilla’s ground.
Tip: Under 2.5 goals - 10/11 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if the two teams do not score three or more goals between them.
Girona v Real Madrid: Sunday, 20:00 GMT

Speaking of matches between attacking teams, Girona v Real Madrid has become known for goals, and there’s one player who has stood out in recent meetings, Jude Bellingham. The English sensation has scored four goals and provided two assists in three games against Girona. Bellingham has also been one of Madrid’s leaders in recent matches, scoring and assisting in last week’s tough game against Elche. He is in fine form for a fixture he enjoys, having had two or more shots on target in four of his last five league games. We’re backing him to continue that run, and the odds make it worthwhile.
Tip: Bellingham over 1.5 shots on target - 11/8 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if Bellingham has two or more shots on target during the match, regardless of whether he scores.
Rayo Vallecano v Valencia: Monday, 20:00 GMT

An intriguing match rounds off the gameweek in Vallecas. Valencia’s visit to Rayo promises to be a close contest, with just two places and three points separating the two sides in the table. Rayo have been one of the weakest home teams this season (W1, D3, L1), though they are tough to beat at home, as Barça and Madrid have found out. Valencia, meanwhile, have struggled away (D2, L4) so far in the league. Even so, Los Che have only lost two of their last eight head-to-heads (D5, L2), and are unbeaten in their last two trips to Vallecas (W1, D1), having lost just twice in their last eight official visits (W2, D4). For these reasons, we think the double chance on Valencia or a draw is a good option.
Tip: Valencia win or draw - 10/11 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if the match ends in a Valencia victory or a draw.
