Barcelona have pulled clear at the top of the table and head into the derby against Espanyol also embroiled in a tense Champions League tie with Atlético de Madrid. Real Madrid, who are facing Bayern in Europe, need to beat Girona to maintain their pursuit of the top.
Villarreal and Atleti continue their battle for third place, while Celta and Betis are fighting for fifth, which could mean Champions League football, with Real Sociedad and Getafe close behind.
At the bottom, Elche will be looking to climb out of the relegation zone or at least keep that possibility within reach, as they are just a win away from Sevilla, Mallorca and Alavés. Here are our predictions for another thrilling round of La Liga action.
Real Madrid v Girona: Friday, 20:00 BST

It’s unusual to see Madrid playing on a Friday, but with their European tie against the German giants, it turned out to be a good option.
In six of their last seven matches, Real Madrid have scored between one and three goals in total, a feat they’ve also managed in eight of their last nine meetings with the Catalan side, who have conceded between one and three goals in eight of their last ten league games.
Tip: Madrid to score between one and three goals – 4/9 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if Madrid score, but do not reach four goals.
Real Sociedad v Alavés: Saturday, 13:00 BST

This Basque derby kicks off Saturday’s action, with Matarazzo’s side clear favourites and chasing the European places. They host an Alavés team fighting to avoid relegation and unbeaten in three (W1, D2).
Real Sociedad have won six of their last seven matches at Anoeta in 90 minutes, the only exception being a last-gasp draw against Oviedo.
Recent head-to-heads haven’t favoured the San Sebastián side, but they did win the only meeting in 2026, away in the Copa del Rey last February (2-3).
The odds for a La Real win look attractive, considering the gap between the two teams in the table.
Tip: Real Sociedad to win – 8/11 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if Real Sociedad win
Elche v Valencia: Saturday, 15:15 BST

Elche host Valencia in a dramatic Valencian Community derby, with the hosts propping up the relegation zone and Valencia just six points clear, meaning a defeat could drag them dangerously close to the bottom.
Despite their position, Elche have been solid at home this season (W6, D7, L2), and managed a draw at Mestalla in the first half of the season (1-1).
Against a Valencia side struggling for results away from home (W3, D3, L9), we expect Elche to pick up at least a point.
Tip: Elche to win or draw – 4/11 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if Elche avoid defeat.
Barcelona v Espanyol: Saturday, 17:30 BST

The Catalan derby sees Espanyol dreaming of their first win of 2026, after a hard-fought draw at Betis.
Barça, meanwhile, could edge even closer to the title with another three points at home, although they’re likely to rotate their line-up due to the Champions League tie with Atlético de Madrid, which will be decided at the Metropolitano on Tuesday, April 14.
Barcelona are the best home side in the league, having won all their home games, and have scored between one and three goals in every home league match except two (Valencia and Sevilla).
They’ve also hit that range in seven of their last ten official matches and in nine of the last ten derbies against Espanyol.
Tip: Barcelona to score between one and three goals – 8/15 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if Barcelona score, but do not reach four goals.
Sevilla v Atlético: Saturday, 20:00 BST

Sevilla host Atlético with tempers running high after their defeat in Oviedo and in desperate need of points, as they sit just two above the drop zone.
Atlético are likely to rotate, given their Champions League tie with Barça and the Copa del Rey final the following weekend.
With a packed home crowd behind them, we expect García Plaza’s side to find the net, despite failing to score in their last two games.
Sevilla have scored one or two goals in nine of their last eleven league matches, and in four of their last five home league games.
Tip: Sevilla to score between one and three goals – 4/9 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if Sevilla score, but do not reach four goals.
Osasuna v Betis: Saturday 13:00 BST

Osasuna host Betis, who are busy with their European tie and have struggled to win in the league lately. The Navarrese side isn’t in great form either, with just one win in five.
Only one of Osasuna’s last 14 league games has seen more than 10 corners (11 or more), and the same has happened in just three of Betis’s last 14 official matches.
[b]Tip: Under 11 total corners – 4/9 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if there are 10 or fewer corners in total in the match
Celta v Oviedo: Sunday, 17:30 BST

Celta host Oviedo while in the middle of their Europa League tie with Freiburg, which makes this prediction a little trickier, but the visit of the bottom side should be a good opportunity at the odds on offer.
Celta have failed to win three of their last four home games (against Madrid, Lyon and a surprise comeback by Alavés), but are a strong side who have won six of their previous seven official matches at Balaídos.
Oviedo, bottom of the league, have lost seven of their last ten away league games and haven’t won on the road since September.
Tip: Celta to win – 4/6 @ bet365
Bet Explanation: This bet wins if Celta win
Athletic v Villarreal: 20:00 BST

Given the quality of both teams, this could be the match of the round. Villarreal are fighting for third place, while Athletic Club are looking to get back to their best.
Both sides have shown some inconsistency, especially Villarreal away from home, so this could be a great game but a tough one to call. Our advice: enjoy the match without betting.
